View Full Version : anyone give me steps on installing a hood?

alright got my quadtech hood tonight for 15 bucks, like new. for a 450r. attempting to put it on my 01 400 with 07 front plastic. can someone help me out? ive never installed a hood before and dont know if it will even work well heres my bike, ik needs washed, and the hood. any help would be great

ask chronicsmoke he put that hood on his 400. cept hiswas the older body style, oh well.

I believe you have to remove your headlight, then make holes in your plastics where the hood needs them when it's lined up when it's centered up/down and side to side. Then just use pan headed screws to secure it. Don't do anything without someone else chiming in here though. I haven't ever put one on but I have the same plastic and have seen them on other 400s and that is what it looked like they did.

Or you may just be able to use the stock hood holes on the top part, then use the plastic pop rivets on the bottom part. Again, not sure, but that seems much more simplistic imho.

remove the headlight, position the hood, tape it in place, and drill mounting holes. you may be able to use pop rivets to mount it. but im not sure if you have to remove the stock hood. but it should look sweet mounted up.:D

well took headlight, stock hood and everything off and got the two bottom holes drilled and snugged a nut and a bolt on each, just need to figure out how ima do the two top holes here it is just to see what shes gona look like, it would look a lot better if the rest of the bike was clean
