Did all the research to know that everything from the 400 will swap right over but couldn't find anything on the skid plate and if it will work with the 400 brake rotor, being its bigger than the 450. Will this need to be swapped over to use the skid plate does anyone know?

I did the swap with a complete 450r rear end, so I'm using the rotor from a 450, but it is close (>1/2" clearence) using a 450r skid.

I'd imagine the 400ex rotor would hit the 450r skid, but I can't give you a 100% answer. Maybe consider swapping to a 450r setup for added clearence, or midify your skid to accomidate the larger rotor

Only 450 parts I'm using so far is the swinger and aftermarket chain guide. I'm looking into a 450 rear break set up now cause it failed to cross my mind the 450 caliper and rotor are smaller than the 400,I don't think it will work:/

The 04/05 450R and 400ex swingarm skid plate bolt pattersn are the same except for the 450R skid having the two extra bolt locations in the center. The difference, as mentioned, is the rotor diameter of the 400ex is longer. I had previously used an 05 450 skid on my 400, I just had to tap the rotor guard downward to make clearance.

Got cha. Thanks! Im going to see before I put out te $ for the 450 brake set up unless I find a hell of a deal on it! One more question, if I do decide to go with the 450 set up will any year 450 set up work on the 06 swingarm?
