I am trying to help a friend who just bought a 400ex. He was told it was a 426. We pulled it apart and confirmed that it is has a 88mm piston. We are trying to figure out what brand piston is is and what compression ratio it would give. Does anyone know what the piston/cylinder clearance should be? Are there directions on where to put rings and which way the arrow should point?

It also has a Hotcam in it but we are not sure which one it is. It says HCDC No.7

Stage 1 hot cam for sure, old stage 1 as well.. New numbers are different.

It could be a wiseco piston, they usually have numbers like that and the arrow faces towards the exhaust ports (front of engine). If it is a wiseco piston clearance should be .014 and .017 inches (first and second right).

[edit]: I googled the number on the piston, appears to be a wiseco 426 and 11:1 comp ratio
