So heres the 496 Sabertooth topend and crank that I just picket up, between this and the backetcase 496 motor that I already have I should be able to build one nice Drag /hillshooter bike.

Heres some of the parts that I've assembled so far, I just found out that the other 496 head that I have was polished at one time so it should be easy enough to repolish again. I've also got a 50mm Lectron and an OOF Shearer Drag pipe.

Its just a bunch of parts at this point , but after I get a JJ&A axle a swinger by Lew Jr, along witrh some custom frame mods this bike should be one mean sob, lol!
Thanks Higgy

Sorry if this is a stupid question but is this a Cr500 based topend or a bored and stroked 250? Looks sick whatever it is and good luck with it.

Is Pete gonna build the motor for ya? How do you find time to ride with all the building you do? :p

Another project Higgy? Hey I'm not complaining, I love watching these come together. You keep me motivated to keep building mine up.

I have a new JJA axle that is polished, just never got around to using it. It is for a banshee though and has 3 spoke rear hubs.

Looks good, you'll love the motor.

Well I haven't ridden much in the last 2 years only a handfull of times and 2 of ther times I blew motors. SO thats why I'm doing so much building. I just love working on these things and seeing a project come together. I want to have at least 3 bikes completely done next time I go ridding so I can have a spare. As for that "Starting A Sabertooth video" and the kick back. Thats what I look like trying to start my Puma!!!So I can't imagine starting a Sabertooth!! Oh and yeah I'll have Pete build the Saber motor for me!!! Well I'm off to go pick up a 4mil Banshee stroker motor from Twister that they just finished for me. Should have at least 80hp. So if I can't start the Puma there's always the Banshee, lol!
Thanks Higgy

Now I see why Calvin never would talk to me, cause he knew I broke my foot kicking a Pro-x 350 with 240 lbs compression & that Saber, would be WAY out of the question.

Maybe those Saber cylinders should com as a combo. Top end & 450 Foreman 4X4 to pull start it.

Lol, they aren't that hard to start.

If my 150lb *** can start one, anybody can.

That video was tough to watch, but if he was really kicking on it for hours, his foot would be so sore and raw that he wasn't giving it his all.

It happens to all of us. Two kick backs and my foot is done. Just be sure to get a programmable box and retard the initial timing.

This is the most stupid question ever, What do you do with a Saber TRX 250R? That thing must be wicked in drags!

I'm building this Saber as a Drag Motor for sand Drags!! I'm calling Pete and I'm gonna have him port it like a madman to make it drag bike. I'll have Lew Jr. take my extisting frame and make a custom drag frame out of it. Its gonna be SICK. SO WHAT DO I DO WITH A SABER MOTOR IN A TRX 250R RACE THE CRAP OUT OF IT!!! LOL!! What else is there to do with a motor that big, Ha ha.
Thanks Higgy

Not a bad idea Neil, now if someone could come up with and electric start for these motors then they'd have a winner!! I'd buy a couple of electric starters for sure, lol! I hear ya Neil! I'm still not sure what I'm gonna do, but Jason or PDXBigfoot knows how to start them pretty well so he's been showing me the ropes. I'm getting there! I just bought a new pair of boots so hopefully those will do the trick or the kick, lol!
Thanks Higgy!

Just buy one of these!

http://www.pingelonline.com/starters.htm

My buddy bought a drag bike that had a Puma in it, and it was setup to use one of these to start it. He ditched it because its just to much trouble to tote the starter and batteries around at the dunes.

If you are wanting an all out drag motor then a remote starter is probably in your future on a saber. You can pull compression out to make it easier to kick but the motor will suffer unless you spray it.

Now you've got me interested, what it a "remote starter"? It sounds like something I need to own, lol! I absoulutely hate kicking over my PSI 425 & my puma 431! So I can't even imagine kicking over a Saber 496! Seriously, please enlighten me o wise one??
Thanks Higgy

Its sure alot easier than trying to kick one over!

Video above shows it, but its a car starter that spins a custom flywheel nut on your motor.

It's a necessity on the big banshees because when they kick back it breaks starter/clutch primary gears. The Honda's don't break, they just hurt to when they kick back.

You don't need to drag race a Saber either. We just put one of ours in a micro sprint for circle track.

Higgy, atv fan posted the remote starter it works just like that. That motor sounds a little lean on the low end unless he is riding the throttle on purpose.

Here's a better photo of it.

This one is gonna head up to Pete to get Ported and Polished, then we'll send her off for some platting and as soon as I get her back then the Polishing will begin. I might end up using the PSI 425 bottomend that I Polished up for this Sabertooth motor insted of the PSI 425 because they're already machined out to accept a larger cylinder! The other set of cases that I have are still stock size and haven't been machined yet. So I don't see any reason to go hoggin them out until I decide what size motor I'm gonna put in the LRD frame. I was gonna use the 425 PSI, but I think that it would be a little too much for an aluminum frame. Plus I've been wanting Arlen at LED to build me a motor and pipe combo so the whole bke would be an LRD/LED build basically all built by the man himself. Then I'll let Pete do what he does best and build that Saber drag motor with those polished cases. So yes I'll still have 2 builds going at once. Also, the Banshee motor is back from Twister and 4mil stroker its now become should be enough to scare the crap outta the Girlfriend, lol!! She has no idea what she's in for, ha ha!
Well Happy holidays and keep those builds going!
Thanks Higgy!

Do you want to get rid of that other Saber top-end? Im assuming you are gonna use the polished cylinder for your drag build correct?

I'm not sure I was planning on setting one up for race fuel and the other up for alcohol so I'd have 2 differnent setups to choose from! If I decide to sell it I'll let you know, but I wanna talk to Pete 1st before I do anything?
Thanks Happy Holidays Higgy!

My Saber runs at 150 psi, which is low, but it was setup that way and its easier to start than my 280 Sparks motor with 220 psi... its also easier to start that my stock motor with 192 psi, fwiw... I weigh 225-230, depending on what I had for breakfast... LOL!

This motor is currently on the west coast getting setup for my MX bike... not going for peak hp.

looks like one or maybe even both of higgys cylinders were originally setup up for powervalves, that would have been a nice addition to your bike Troy since its going to be a duner.
Maybe if theres still time you guys could trade because the powervalve will not do much for drag racing.

Yeah, a bikes no fun if you can't start it. I just don't like going down to the dunes and spending half of my energy kicking over a big motor or should I now say high compression motor. Thanks Troybuilt that a pretty good tip, and I think that someone else has already mentioned it, but if I'm gonna build a drag bike I'd think I'd want it somewhere in the middle. Something that I'm able to start and but that has plenty of compression for high HP!! Not to get off track, but here's about 80hp that I installed this weekend this motor is all brand spanking new!

This is my girlfriends X-mas present, hopefully it'll scare her prettygood. She won't ride it until I put a full set of nerf/heelguards on it! I don't blame her!
Thanks and happy Holidays Higgy!
