bike wont start

i have an 05 400ex and it wont start. when i go to start it the battery sounds like it is tryin to start but the engine just wont turn over. the last time i parked it sounded like something was banging on something.

could be alot of things.

How long has it been sitting?
Banging could have been timing chain slapping around, possibly your rod knocking, engine may have locked up over time. (depending on how long it was sitting?)

Its hard telling. Got anymore details for us?

Timing chain could be so streached its binding up inside your engine.

Some things to check:
Battery fully charged?
Valves adjusted to specs?
Pop valve cover off and check timing chain for slack?
Timing chain tensioner could be due to be replaced also.

the bike has been sitting for maybe 2 weeks. today i am going to open the engine up ans check the vavles and the timming chain
