hey guys, me and a friend of mine who is a mechanic put a new chain and sprockets on my 400 today. It all went well except one thing, when we put the new front sprocket on, it had some play on the splines. I am just wondering if this is normal, we didn't remember if it was like that with the old sprocket or not, and it kind of worried me.:confused:

I don't know how much play you have, but they do have some play as they are not a press fit.

Is it side to side play or foward/back?

It should have play if I remember, notmuch but just a bit. I also recall that there is an inside and outside side to the sprocket too.

Yeah, A little bit of side to side play is normal, And remember don't tighten them two sprocket bolts too tight because they like to break off.

thank god haha! It's a very slight bit of side to side play and a little but more forward to back... Also I put the kind of "tapered" side in towards the engine and the flat side out. The other way seemed much looser and not as snug of a fit and the bracket holding it on didn't seem to fit properly.
