Im a trail rider and and have owned several quads over the years. I can say I really did like having reverse on my raptor and kfx450r. The majority of riders I would think are recreational trail riders and can benefit with having it.

I'm a trail rider and I would LOVE if they put reverse in them, you need power on the trails too, not just the track, and you just can't ride on alot of trails (where I ride anyways) without it. I think it's kind of stupid they don't put it on, trying to make it light weight? Really, how much does one gear and some plastic peices and a cable weigh?

I guess I look at the raptor and my old kfx450r as fully capable trail machines. E start-reverse should be standard on any model trail quad. The DS 450x xc and yfz 450x I think would be really attractive to buyers with it also. If honda added reverse to the 450r and had a similar setup like the Ktm xc models have
( suspension , tires ect..) then I have no dought It would be a really big seller. I have been thinking of getting a trx450r but not having reverse has me considering a quad that has it.

If the 450r had reverse, there is no doubt that the sales on them would sky rocket. All of my friends are trail riders, and we all ride hondas because of their reliablity, simplicity, and you just can't kill them! If they had reverse I know I was going to buy a 450r with a 480 and everything modded, but no reverse, I had to get a 400ex.

Reverse is why I didnt buy a 450r, but I got my 08 400ex and i love it, if Honda comes out with a 450r and it has reverse I would definitely buy it

That would be a huge improvement.
I actually procrastinated for a couple days over the 400ex vs 450r, solely because I wanted reverse.
In the end, I am happy, my 07 ER has been ROCK solid and dependable.
I have no use for reverse, more weight, and it's just something else to go wrong. K.I.S.S. :D

I think they should make a e model with it and a r model with out. It

I can agree with that argument too, but man it would be useful for me when riding with the young-ens`
Merry Christmas!

hey, it dont hurt to get off your quad to pull it back/pick it up and turn it around... lazy....
i dont believe racy quads should have it, i actually took it out of my 300ex, less weight (not much) and less rotating drag on the engine.
but i do believe that it would improve sales if honda added the reverse to the ER modle. the ER isnt from what i see the first choice for racers bc of the battery and starter motor (weight) and rec/trail riders like the ease of a button.

I think they should have one with it and without it, or just make all of them with it and make an easy conversion to take it out and keep makin kick starts for MX racing and the elec for XC just my 2 cents

I def wouldn't want it, but I also didn't want the e-start/battery either. Maybe the ER have it and the standard R not?

They need that and the er with reverse cause theres a lot of XC and trail riders that want it, like I said in another thread they need a 450x (XC quad) and a 450r (MX quad) that would be a smart choice I think

Man try breaking trail going down hill with no reverse, if you go the wrong way and have to back up the hill theres no way you can push it back :blah:

Yeah it would be nice, i don't really see the need for the battery on most quads kickstart would work just fine for me.

Its good for XC racers here in OK, the guy waves the flag and u start the engine and go, its a lot faster than a kick start hahaha
