Ok guys heres the story. I think i got my powerstroke sold for 19k. Im gonna miss it but with my first little one on the way a bigger vehicle is needed. I bought my truck new and paid on it 5 years and was scared to death to drive it. Didnt wanna put miles on it and now i look back and that was stupid. NOW that i think my truck is sold i found a 2010 Chevrolet 2500 4 door LTZ 6.0 its a dang nice truck and being the LTZ its loaded with everything. Its only downfall is its got 145K miles. Its advantage is that i think it can be bought for around 15500. Would you guys be scared of a truck with that many miles? I would be paying cash and could pocket 3000-3500 from my truck. so i would still have a nice truck with no payment i guess it would just be the same as if i woulda put 140K on my ford while i owned it.. What do you guys think??

it will last you, if you take care of it. i know a couple guys with over 200k on their chevy gassers. ones a 2000 and the others newer not sure the year. regardless is doesnt matter.

you keep up on your maintenance and it will last you just as anything else will

6.0 is fine, but it drinks gas like no other!

But for a truck that new with that many miles in all honesty you can do way better for the price if you bought even a 3-4 year old truck with the same miles (unless you gotta have THAT chevy truck). 145k miles in barely 2 years means they drove at least 60k miles a year!

145k and it a 2010? Thats really high wear and I doubt the guy took care of it for how much he should have. 2 years old, tranny oil change, 4-5 air filters, 5 brake jobs, 28 oil changes, several sets of tires. Thats alot of work to put into something in 2 years. I would say alot of that work has be "put off" and not done when needed. Run from it.

X2. Guy probably bought it, and drove the piss out of it under warranty. Then said F it and traded it in.

An 06-08 with that many miles is more reasonable.. but in 2 years.. that's scary.

I agree, plus you should be able to find an older truck with LOWER miles for similar price, possibly even the older body style. Yeah you'd be paying more for an older truck, but to me mileage is everything. I won't even look at a truck with over 70,000 on it. Would you be prepared to replace all of the front end parts if needed, or a transmission?

My pops 02 2500hd with a 6.0 with 140k on it and it runs like the day it was new, one of our work 5.3 vans also has 254k on it and it still runs everyday!! We change oil every 3k and replace everything nessacary, but nothing crazy

Im not dead set on this truck just came across it. I know you never know the past of a used truck but i cant afford another new one anymore. The story i got was it was an old couple that traveled around with a camper but who knows how true that is. It dont look like its been beat but im gonna keep looking. Im not jumpuing into anything. Plus i would like to have a full 4 door instead of the fold out 4 door.

I've got an 02 Chevy 1500. Ol' girl just turned over 172k. It's got the 4.8 vortec in it, lifted 6in 20in rims and 33's. Other than the notorious vortec tops end chatter it's had from 80k, it runs like its brand new.

Personally I would stay away from the 6.0, they eat gas like its going out of style. I would spend the extra and get an older duramax. Look for something like an 06 or a pre 04, look for the lbz or lb7 motors. You should be able to find one with under 200000 on it for under 18000 pretty easy. In the long run it ill pay off. Those 6.0 gassers are known to get around 12mpg where as a stock dirty will get 18 daily even better with some add ons

how many peaple can you put in your truck .pick up a car seat and see how it feels . and what does the wife drive most times you all wont be in the same veh,, and think about a cap for your truck .for baby stuff and grocerys to keep dry . i did the same thing you did years ago and wished i never did it.. kids grow up fast we have 4 of them. plus that other truck has a lot of miles and if they pulled a camper thats hard pulling miles.take care tommy

Steer clear of the LB7 if you happen to go Duramax. Go LLY or LBZ.

agreed, however the lb7 with the good injectors is a good motor. but it doesnt seem like this guy is looking to make any fixes on a truck so just avoid it lol

another diesel aint out of the question. Just really dont have the need for one. when moving something that would require a diesel my dad has a couple of them i can use. I will still be pulling our 28 ft gooseneck so thats why im stuck on a 3/4. But all i ever pull on the gooseneck is usually a load of quads or RZRs so its never a heavy load

That's still a load on a 6.0 and they are gas guzzlers for sure. Maybe not as bad as my 8.1, until you hook up trailers. The 6.0 will drop, where I know I'm going to get 8-9 no matter how I drive it or pull with it. :o I'm not learly or high mileage gassers, but the truck will show it before the motor will. The front ends need a lot of work on a chevy, especially with wide wheels. I'd personally look for something a little older with the same miles for a lot less $.

i'd go diesel if you can.. better MPG more power..but then again a larger price tag.

The 8.1 is a great motor, my dad and brother both have 8.1 and the really dont get much worse mpg than the 6.0. I love my dirtymax and will probably never buy another gasser truck. Currently at 331000 miles and still runs and starts perfect. Also with the 6.0 you get the 4L60E is is not even compairable to the allison you get with the dura and the 8.1. That 28' trailer is going to be a big load for a 4l60 especially if you like to keep you speed up hills. I pull my 28' toy hauler or 20' enclosed and my allison very rarely downshifts.

Please tell me how to get 18 MPG out of my Duramax, because even the most knowledgable diesel man will tell you that's a fantasy. Mine gets 12-13 around town driving it easy, and 18 on the highway unloaded.

i thought 6.0s come with 4l80e's? it was always my understanding that the 4l60e was only used with the 4.8s and 5.3s in half tons.

Thats true, the 3/4 ton trucks use the 4L80 not the 4L60.

Even the most knowledgeable diesel man will tell you 18mpg city is easily done. My uncles '07 LBZ with EFI live, exhaust and intake gets 17 city and about 22 highway on his mileage tune. I know this for a fact because I've been driving it while he's out of town. Learn to keep your foot out of it. Lol

Because most of the people who make these claims are relying on the display to tell them there fuel millage. Most will find if they check it themselves the fuel millage is much worse.

I got a buddy that swore his truck was getting 22MPG. I told him that if he was getting that good of fuel millage then he could run over 600 miles between fillups. Thats when he realized something was wrong. He checked it himself and found it to be about 18mpg.
