I am wanting to get more torque out of my 400ex. I have trouble when i hit a decent size hill in second i do fine till about the top and it starts bogging out on me.....i was thinking of putting a 43tooth (moose) sprocket on the back i found on dennis kirk and a 13 tooth in the front...i dont race my 400 i just trail ride and hill climb does that sound like to much or just right???? Thanks guys for the feedback

sounds like a bit much to me. with a 43 on the back, i'm not even sure you'd be able to run a skid plate :ermm: . i understand you want the torque down low, but i think you'll find yourself always at the top of gears and that gets annoying really quickly.

Your 39 is good to go...go to a 14 on the front. I climbed the steepest hills with a 14/38 combo. Usually in 2nd or 3rd gear.....also remember if your in second an climbing an it begins to bog.....downshift down to first. Usually with a smaller sprocket up front you won't bog near as easy an will be in a higher gear.

I think on the 05-07 14t is stock on the front, just take your rear up to a 39 should give you lots. Invest in a slip-on and jet kit and you'll slide up them hills.

Dont wast you money on a slip on or jet kit......Get a good pipe, cam like stage 1 and a 450 carb that will help big time you can do all this for under $350

Look on here you can pick up a carb for around $35 to $50 bucks the fcr's are more...

A good pipe will run you $75 to $200 used on ebay $100 to $225

And a cam i would get new but you can find them on here for around $25 to $50 used i would not pay more then that used there $128 new on ebay with free shipping for a stage 1,2 or 3 cam....you would do good with a stage 1 for what you do.
