Electrical Problem

I own a 04 LTZ400 and when i went to start it up the other day the battery was completely dead, my neutral/ reverse/ oil temp lights wouldn't even come on. So i got brand new battery and after i hooked it my bike still will not start and i still dont have power to my gauge lights. Would buying a new wiring harness help? i could be a short some where i have no idea. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

stupid question, but did you charge the battery before you installed it? If so make sure connections at battery are correct, there is also a fuse (think its a 20amp) under a little rubber cover next to the battery. and then just keep following it from ther,
