dose anyone no if a 2004 400ex swing arm will mount o a 86-87 trx250R

I dont think it will because of the engine offset. The motor on a 400 sits a little more forward and the spacers are larger on the EX arm. It will work the other way though an R arm will fit on an ex with some Spacers made
