Fastest production 4wheelers built. Honda trx 250r.

Haha, that is kinda funny.

The Suzuki LT500 was the fastest quad of the day back then. Also, the Honda 250R's were slower than the Banshees and Kawasaki Tecate 4's. I'm not sure about the LT250R but, I think the later power-valved models were also slightly faster than the Honda. Stock for stock.

Today's quads will leave these ancient relics so far behind stock for stock, that the rider on the two-stroke will wonder if he should have ran the pink or blue powerbands maybe even the mythical black and white ones.

As far as the price, $4200 for both of those quads is a bit much. $4200 for just one of them is an absolute ripoff.

The engines didnt produce enough power vs the other competitors-the suspension and frame design made the 250R the best handling one out of them all tho.

Today people dump serious coin on those things to make them stupid fast.

I wouldnt ever pay 4200 for one tho. Thats just highway robbery.

No doubt the Honda 250R was the best all around quad. It was the go to race quad from the time it came out till late 98 when the 400EX made its debut. It still was the preferred atv until around 2003-2004 when the Z400 finally had aftermarket support and the factory 450's came out from Honda and Yamaha.

and you dont know whats done to either one. They can easily be worth $4200 for one of them. You cant tell what is done to either one of them really from that pic.

Its sad that 99% of the people in this thread never owned or ridden one more than likely. There are some serious hate for them in this thread. Purely ridiculous IMO.

He could have 15 grand in it and it still not be worth 4G's. You never get the money back you drop in these things, and imo if I have $4200 to drop on a quad their are alot better choices. I could buy a complete race ready 450 any make 07 or older around here. It might be worth it to someone but not this guy.

Hey, I never said I hated the 250R. But in stock form they just arent that much to brag about vs todays 400's and 450s. Worked, now if its done right you better hold on!

CJM first off I wanna thank you almost EVERY problem I've had with my 400 I've found the answer to from you in a thread somewhere.
But back to the 250r I'm not saying to someone it isn't worth it a quads worth really depends of the buyer I'm just saying imo you could spend 40k on a 250 and I'm still gonna pick my 400 or possibly a 450 over it.

I totally agree bigcountry. Honestly the 250 is a machine you build up to be what you want and the money a person pays for one-worked or not is the value. You can post whatever you want online with whatever price, it doesnt meant thats what your gonna get.

Well, I know that the one on the left has Works front shocks with triple rate springs and what appears to be shock reservoirs on the frame and some type of aftermarket pipe. It may be decent. I can tell you that I have never seen a 250R with Works suspension that I would give over $2800 for. If it has that type of suspension, then it most likely isn't what I would consider built. I would bet on basic bolt ons, which are typical of just about any 250R you will find.

The quad on the right appears to be more stockish than the one of the left. I can tell it has stock a-arms and probably stock shocks, it is hard to tell with the shock covers on. It looks like it hasn't been wrecked in some time as the crossbar pad on the handlebars looks extremely old. It's a bit hard to tell about that one but I would bet it has just the basics as well.

I re-read the entire thread and never so much as seen anything that looked like anyone was hating on the 250Rs.

Thank you ish, no one was bashing the 250r's just saying their not worth what this guy was asking. Esp. not for just one. If the price was right I would be all over it but for that price in my area you can buy fully race ready quads 400's and 450's.

Maybe 10 15 years ago you couldnt touch a 250r for less than 4000. Least in my area. If the price is for two than i would think its a good deal I guess. Maybe not. But I believe now that its prefrence between two and four stroke. I was raised on two strokes went to four strokes and now Iam back on a 2 smoker!
