hey guys i need new sprockets and chain, and i'm considering swithcing from the stocj 15 tooth to a 14 tooth. I'm just wondering what other peopl'e experience has been with this. I really like how my quad runs and its power now, but it might be sweet to get a little more low end.

You will def tell just one tooth.. Your going to lose a few top end mph, but if you trail ride alot, it does help..

yeah I really don't care about top speed much, I mostly trail ride and hill climb..

i can't stand 14 front for the type of riding we usually do. however i will be running it with the snow tires, so you might want to consider that since i think it was your thread saying you got some..?

yeah I did get snow tires and I think it'll help with that, but i think i would like more bottom end in general..

Hondapohl -I do hillclimbs around Pottsville and minersville in pa, very similar to treverton hills, just ALOT less people to scare me

I usually run 20" tires but ill have 22"'s on this winter

Might just be because I have a 426, but last time I tried a 14T it made 1st, 2nd and somewhat 3rd almost worthless. i was riding around in 4th and 5th alot.

Right now Im running a 37T rear and probably going to go to a 36T rear b/c I have plenty of torque and still not enough speed.

Hey man we might be headed to minersville in a few weeks. Prob like 5 of us. Maybe you can meet up? If you are running 22" tires then the smaller front will help a bit over the stock front. My current gearing is 14-36 and it works well, with the 20" rear tires

i prefer the 15 to the 14 any day with a 38 rear. the 14 just doesnt let it rev out at all imo.

it always leaves me wishing for another gear when its wound out.

Yes this is true, if you are using 3rd 4th and 5th gear.. Alot of trail rides, you are using 1 2 and mid to top 3rd..

Your trails must be tighter than mine, I use every gear but first in the trails by me.
