What is the reason there isn't a hot start on ER models

With electric start hot start isnt really needed.

Does it hurt anything to add it

No, but it doesnt help either. You wont see any easier starts with hot start on electric start motors. The length of the crank you get with elec start defeats the need.

most people take it off the kickers though because it usually gets stuck open and becomes a pain in the *** to start all the time

all the hot start does is open the carb a little, its equivalent to holding the thottle open a little

It let's some air in creating a lean condition.. Usually when you stall you leave extra fuel in the motor making it hard to start when it's hot... Basically it's opposite of a choke.

DON'T HOLD THE THROTTLE WHILE CRANKING! You run the risk of cracking the side cover on a kickstart, or causing failure of the starter clutch on the e-start models. The hotstart does exactly the opposite.

Good piont scro... And if you have ever had a kicker, kick back and slam your knee into the handlebars/thumb throttle you'll remember not to crack the throttle again, lol..

I put the hot start in my FCR and it help out a lot when you stalled it in the middle of a XC race. After I added the 24 volt it fires right up so i don't really use it anymore.

i bought my 04 with a cracked case, i thought it was a bad gasket until i replaced it and was still leaking oil out the back of the case, the sun hit it just right and there it was!!! a small hair line crack. not to hard to replace though imo....

Was just remembering how it feels to have that thing kick back.....cold thumb wasn't holding that hot start in as much as I thought (not at all). Haven't felt pain like that since the days of kicking over the 650 sans compression release......kick......kick......kick.........kick POW!!!!
