Why are folding shift levers so cheap? are they junk or do people not like them? i like the solid billet ones but thet are way mor than regular ones why?

I guess why the folding ones are so cheap is because it is just like making a regular dirtbike shifter.

And the reason that the billet ones are high priced like the pro design power shifters, Is because they have to machine them and do all the billet aluminum work.

I like them both , You cant really tell the difference between them at all though, I run that Pro design Power Shifter I think it ran me about $70 bucks

The spring for mine is VERY stiff, it will fold but not under normal use. They are designed to fold incase of accident really.

Most all dirtbikes come with a folding shifter so when you crash or tip the bike over, it dont break the shifter. I guess that's where they got the idea from.

but on a quad the shifter is never gonna hit the ground, so i guess I don't see the point

if your not running nerf bars it is pretty exposed to big rocks, large branches and smaller tree's. imagine taking a right turn sliding and you hit a tree on your left side. if you run nerf bars you really don't need one but you never know.

thats how it happened to the kid i was riding with actually it was pretty muddy going down a kinda choppy down hill and those 250x's kick up horrible anyways and it kicked the rear end up and slammed him into a tree on his left side.

it was pretty nasty, but the actual wreck looked harmless.

-yes; the folders were designed for mx bikes

-i use one on my 400ex more to look kuul than function

-i pray i never roll my quad, that would be extremely painful if i didnt end up paralyzed

-i had a halo on for almost 20 mos. [broken neck]...a crazy 16 yr old girl ran into me at a stop light [her 1st mos. driving]

-being the nice guy i am...i send her x~mas cards every year lol lol lol

-but i sure like them billet DG brake levers [$65.oo]...bet that would knock a second of my lap time lol lol, again just to look kuul over function
