winter wheels

i just got confirmation that my ams zipper snow tires should be at my house today while i'm 2 hrs away at school:scary: But i have a Q for you guys. I'm gonna mount these on my second set of wheels that arent powdercoated, so i'm thinking of painting them or truck bed liner-ing them or something just so they are black and not aluminum, and since i'll only be using them for winter, i think it'd be alright maybe, haha. just seeing what you guys think

Heck, I run painted stock rims year round and they are fine :o

I have to touch them up every now and then but in the winter you should be fine.

haha i was four hours away at school when my 4snows got there, along with some stock rims. i painted the rims black.

haven't had a chance to run them yet, but my brother and dad both had them for one or two winters and they love them. brandon has already posted in this thread so i'm sure he'll see this and comment.

The 4-snows work very well in the snow, I have yet to get stuck and they are ridden in about 12 inches many times.

I believe the zipper/4-snow/pro wedge are all pretty much the same thing.

I would recommend running one size lower on the front sprocket. Being that they expand so much when you go faster, it is a lot for the engine to handle once you get past 2nd gear, especially when already in power robbing snow.

Last year, I participated in a local radar run with my dad's z400 with 22 in. 4-snows, and only topped out at about 55 mph on bare ice. The engine simply could not pull 5th gear any faster. This year I want to try again now that I put a one tooth smaller front sprocket on.

Maxxis Razrs arn't bad in the snow if you want something for year round. BTW, I wouldn't paint rims with truck bed liner, the other day I painted my dirt bike grab bar with that, and if you get a chip they peel pretty easy, or if they don't dry properly then they peel alot and make blotches.
