Here is me a couple years ago. The double was 40 feet, and I was tapped out in 3rd. Didn't make 'er. I hit front wheels first into the landing. I didn't crash but my handlebars slipped in the clamps. It made for some uncomfortable riding. It jarred my bones.

The landing is off the right side of the screen. It is about as tall as the take off jump you see. The landing was actually a huge table top jump that everybody lands on the top of. I broke an X-33 on that jump the year before.

what did you do to ur self?

Nausty
03-01-2003, 08:31 PM
i hit our garage 4th gear pinned on a yz80 a couple years ago. I came back on the dang twist throttle and the farther I wanted to fall back the more I twisted. Just paniced i guess. Got over a 100 stitches, couple skin graphs, lost a lot of blood and got a ton of cuts. When I crash I was wearing the helmet above and thrashed a lot of the parts on it. The visor broke and so did the chrome mouth peice which I cracked again. Also the snaps are broke on one side and I got a lot of tape and chunks missing out of the helmet so I got a new fox one. I also was gonna post a picture of my figure 8 thing I had to wear after I broke my collarbone but decided not too.

Chanman420q
03-01-2003, 08:34 PM
shoulda hit the kill switch :devil

Nausty
03-01-2003, 08:36 PM
lol, I still wounda hit. I would be dead right now if the window wasn't there hitting a wall at around 50. 4th gear all the way pinned.

Chanman420q
03-01-2003, 08:38 PM
how fast do u think those lil dirtbikes are? i dont think an 80 would do 50 in 4th gear

PhilMoore
03-01-2003, 09:27 PM
Obviously, they are fast enough to #@*% you up.

I does not matter how fast. Heck, I spent a few days in a hospital after a 110 threewheeler flipped over backwards. I didn't have helmet (of course, it was the 1980's !!!)
The handlebar clamp tore my face loose. Luckily I was able to stay conscious long enought to get home. I was by myself. So, I am riding home, the right half of my mouth is just flopping in the wind, blood everywhere. Little tip here; when something like that happens, don't swallow the blood. Chunking a lot of clotted blood is just nasty. It took lots of stiches to patch me back up. I broke my eye socket bone, and my right eye does not move the same as it used to.

Moral of the story; don't dink around when you are riding by yourself, and wear a helmet.

you might be right but i'm sure i was pretty dang close and I bet those 80's are a lot faster than you may think when you got em' running right. 40mph at least.

Chanman420q

R1derboy
03-01-2003, 10:21 PM
Cant live in fear of that all your life. You will fall sometime and then you gotta get back up and do it again. In my opinion thats the only way to become a good rider, or be good at anything for that matter. Im not saying go kill yourself, but you gotta push it or you will never be that good at it.

Pappy
03-01-2003, 10:24 PM
well we walked the track before the race and i told him NOT to hit the first 2 jumps....but his ego got the best of him. i was shocked cuz he almost cleared the jump...but when he landed he lost it in the heavy mud and laid it over. when he was trying to get his bike up another bike hit the jump and slammed him front wheel in his chest and pinned him on his back...his shoulder against his exhaust:( all we could see was his legs kicken:mad: he righted himself and raced for another hour...it was after the race we realized he had been severly burned. he has been to the doctor a zillion times and they keep giving us burn cream:huh its been almost 3 months, but i fear it will remain a large scar for the rest of his life:ermm:

Nausty
03-01-2003, 10:29 PM
lol, that didn't look like his shoulder at first. Hes kinda like me, no matter how bad i'm hurt I always get back on and finish the race or tough it out and keep riding.

R1derboy
03-01-2003, 10:29 PM
Im know where you're comming from. Im sorry to hear that your son got hurt. Does he regret it? I have done some really dumb things and they have come back to bit me. It looks to me like that will definately be a big scar for the rest of his life, but its not the end of the world. I happen to have a few like that. It wont always be a bump though. Mine were like and that and eventually it didnt look swolen anymore, but the skin is still scarred/discolored.

yah I use to have a scar that stuck way up out of my arm but over the past couple of years its gone down a lot and thankfully its at a place where you don't see it much and don't have to worry about sun damage as much. I look at scars like trophies though.:) lol, I gotta stop wanting to reply to every post.

Those are some bad oops everyone! I have 2 nice scars, one looks like a sword on my right shoulder (I fell of my dads 5 ton, about 5 feet), the other looks like a slit in my right calf (skidded out on a wheelie on my BMX bike, on a frozen pond and hit a tree a beaver had been chewing on).

he sold the 400ex now... hes tryin to get another though...

he came up a lil short and rolled down the hill... quad hit him and pappy was the 1st person to him... i was bout the 3rd and i had the only quad i think... they yelled for me to go get help bc mike wasn't breathing... i took off 5th gear to the track owners and got help and went to the pits and told lou that he wasn't breathing... took off back and by that time he was sittin up and ok... scared the crap outta us though...

i know the crash is on video till he dad dropped the camera and took of running...

i shoulda talked to lou a lil more before i did it haha. in that pic the bars look hella bent right? when i took them off they were only tweaked a little bit...the stem was bent really bad. the video is really cool. if i had better shocks it woulda saved it all...and leaned back. i did it a few times succesfully...the lil ol 400 couldnt do it though haha. believe it or not i was dam scared of like the 35 ft double ahead so when i landed i usually slammed on the brakes, thats y gas wasnt on. ya well a lesson learned in life thats what its all about. thanks for the help though guys, i really appreciate it :)

yeah sometimes it doesn't hurt, when I got a skin graph and over a hundred stitches I didn't cry at all but I was super sore from head to tow the day after. Its like I just couldn't move after the accident. No pain. When I broke my collar bone it was just kinda sore and numb feeling:o

yah when my dad about drowned and about lost consisnence(I know that it spelled terrible bad) he said it was just a peaceful feeling and it seemed like nothing mattered. Truthfully i don't remember heading towards the house 4th gear pinned. It pretty much went from being in the air to laying on the pool table like I just skipped time.

no the car was donr for.. it rolled about 4 times when my mom lost it on a gravel road and they had to cut part of the roof off of it, my mom just broke a collar bone, but they said if she didnt have her seat belt on it woud have been alot worse.. they found one of the head rests from one of the seats like 40 yards away

well i guess for the 58745875489723857 time ill explain it, hahaha.

they just watered the face of that step up, and i hit it and got crossed up like shane said, and me being a goon 2yrs ago, landed off the track and it was right toward a tree. It was one of those things that when i landed, it was right there in front of me(atleast it seemed that way). I was ok thankfully. My leg was real swollen from where it slammed my bars, and im thankful there was a tire there infront of the tree so i didn't actually hit the tree(quad wise) but my head did hit the tree. Got me a little dizzy. lol.

Hey Pap, that second pic on the first page from way back in 2003 (400ex without the front plastic) that's Chuck Dunn at Antietam. On the start he got tangled up with a guy in the first big sweeper and knocked himself out for a few seconds. Remounted and came all the way back and almost won his class.:p I have it on video somewhere, James was filming it. That's how Chuck used to ride, the bike would come back missing all kinds of plastic and parts. haha good times.

Aug 1st 2008 crash.

Pain pills could't help my pain. I have no pic of the crash in action but I was topped out on my ltr450 with a pipe, intake, and cherry bomb so speed was about 80mph and I crashed and I my self got very very very lucky! Im very lucky to be able to walk and be alive. Most car crashes at this speed your dead. Wish it was on tape it would have been the best quad crash on youtube. For 3 days after the crash I never wanted to ever ride again cause I litteraly felt to scared to ever ride again. It didnt feel worth it I lost all intrest for a few days and at less you ever crash bad enough to think your your going to litteraly die you will never know what I meen. I woke up with blood in my mouth and throat and couldn't get up and felt very peaceful nice and calm and everything was quiet. I came out of it and started yelling for help (no help came I was all alone in the dark) so I got my self out of the ditch and walk to a house cause i thought I wasnt going to die in a ditch and walking with a broken ancle is not easy. :( LTR must be built strong for mx racing cause I only got about $3500 in damage out of that crash, yet it's still drivable. Rolled 40 yards/120ft (almost half a foot ball field) before stopping on all 4 tires in which my body was a ways past the quad. Broke my neck, back, shoulder, and left ankle "only"! Also tore the ligaments in my shoulder and foot. Doc said my shoulder might have dislocated and poped back in place during the crash and it keeps popping now. Got a black eye, chipped front tooth and chipped right fang, and 3 holes in my tong. I thought I was going to die of internal bleeding when I woke up from the blood cause I woke up in a ditch with a mouth full of blood and face covred in wettniss/blood. I thought I was bleeding from the inside out cause I didnt know the blood was from my toung at the time cause I was in shock. I thought it was from my insides. I yelled for help for at least 30 secs. I didnt know where I was or what happen all I knew was I was probably going to die in the ditch. Had a concussion, bad road rash, swelled right ankle/foot, and all 10 fingers where stiff for 5 days and a bunch of stitches on top of my right hand and cut and scraped all over. They found my broken neck which I didnt notace pain in my neck and they found my ankle broken the day I crashed but it took 3 days to find my broken shoulder. I didnt know my back was hurt let alone my neck which I didnt feel no pain in the first day I crashed cause every thing hurt so bad my back and neck pain didnt stand out at all I new is I couldn't move and was a bloody mess and get this the nerses would not help me sit up which is the most painfull thing I ever did in my about 19 years of life, after the cat scans cause my hands where to bloody :rolleyes . The day lator I notaced my back was killing me in witch my quad was cart wheeling and landed right on my lower back with the back tire putting bad makes on my back and butt and breaking my back. I complained 3 times saying somthings wrong with my back. Finaly day 7 I got a cat scan and my back was found broke. Stupid hospitals! Same hospital sent my mom home 10 years ago with a broke shoulder after a 90mph crash saying she only had torn ligaments in her shouder like they did to me  I Lost both my shoes, pants, and helmet in the crash which the helmet must have catapulted cause it was WAY gone probably 90 yards away.
Theirs lots of damage. Don't look like it cause its only lots of tweeked parts. frame/rims/tierods/spendals/bars/levers/plastic/grab bar/shock.

it was crazy. for starters i was running motos. 1st moto went good, did 8 laps. 2nd moto i was going to try 10, well 3 laps in theres a pretty nasty step up(4th gear) and in the air you can click 5th and hold it pin around a left hand sweeper into a straight stretch.... Well ive never actually held it wide open through it, i let off for a milli second to square off the corner then get on it, but that whole lap i hit everything perfect and i was trying to break 1min 30sec lap time. I never lifted and i was leaning alllll the way back on the seat(minimal tread on tires, and dry/hardpacked as hell) and my back end kicked out, 5th gear wfo, threw me off, i slid 30yds(no exaggeration), quad flew, started to roll, and ended up going 9ft-10ft up a tree and striking it. I mean when it hit the tree, the quad was 9-10ft high, it was f'ed up. I couldnt see anythign for 10minutes, i was shaking and couldnt breathe. My amrs were bleeding along with my stomach/back andmy head was throbbing. my left wrist is shaking like crazy, and my right thumb is swollen. Overall it sucked.... But i will have pics up and vids of riding! lol. If anyone has a stock subframe, axle, back wheels, bars for an 08 LTR, let me know! I need them asap. Trying to race next weekend!

If the mail box wasn'ttheir I would have got back on the road fine. It was a split second but going 80mph you go a long ways before getting back on the road even though it only takes a sec or two. It happened so fast I remember letting off the throttle and saying O S*** and my body going side ways and then I woke up 20 minutes later.

OK, so you are a "tuner" guy. What is the purpose of a rear spoiler on a front wheel drive car? Why do you guys like your cars to sound like a 2 stroke? Why do you guys feel the need to try and race everyone you are next to at a light? Why do you guys not even look my way after my F150 makes your car look like a power wheels car? (I didn't mean you personally)

Don't look like it cause its only lots of tweeked parts. frame/rims/tierods/spendals/bars/levers/plastic/grab bar/shock.

that accident was from 2 years ago, the swingarm was fine, all that happened to me was a broken wrist and really bad bruised everything haha, i got really lucky, i could feel myself flipping in the air without touching the ground, people on the gate behind me said the quad was 10-15+ ft in the air, i have no clue how the nerf ended up like that or how the stem snapped without bending much, crazy stuff

eastside 400

heres another bad oops, this is why you wear a helmet no matter what you are riding, jumping my 50 and i preloaded off a 20' double and my foot caught the shifter a lil and kicked the auto clutch on a little and i nosedived and landed directly on my head, 6hrs in ER 1st night-blood in my brain and severe migranes, maybe a concussion, then my eyes swelled shut for 2 days and i couldnt open them at all, then the blood drained and my eyes turned red instead of white, i could push on the top of my head atleast 1/2" the first couple days thats how swullen and full of blood it was

I was at my friends and then another friend that lives 3 miles away called and wanted to come over but wanted some one or all of us to meet up with him cause he didn't want to ride his cr250 alone to where we where for what ever reason probably cause no head lights. So me and 2 friends where going to go meet him. One was on a 450r other on a gsxr 750 and they where going to waite for me so I could follow them using their head lights to see. I ran down the road on my feet to get my quad. I got on it and they took off down the road to be A-holes so I got on the road and took off fast so I could catch up to em and their was no moon that night and I ended up knocked out in a ditch. If the A-holes would have waited for me instead of thinking it would be so hilarious to take off ahead of me I would be fine and still riding. Its my fault I drove but basicaly their fault that I crashed.
