hole in my motor?

I found a hole in the bottom of my 05 motor, it was filled with silicone and it leads to the water pump and comes out between the 2 seals, why is it there and the impeller shaft is rusty, is that the cause?

In the older models that is what was called the wheep hole. Not sure why Yamaha put it there but if your pump is going bad it'll start to leak from there. Maybe that's why they put it there :confused:
