outlaw 525 wont start

My friend has a 07 outlaw 525 that wont start the starter was fried so he bought a new and put it on it and still nothing

Ya its just clicking

honestly for us to diagnose the problem your gonna have to give more details.

Yes it will push start and it just cranks when he tries to start it with the button

ok so its actually cranking over?
If its just cranking could be a weak spark, did you check the spark plug?

if its just clicking it could be a lot of things, the solenoid is fine, it could be the stator or starter relay.

Also the battery.

Yes it's cranking over just not firing, he said that when he taps the button 3 times and then holds it, it just spins kind of, but we read about the decompression lever breaking off so thats what we are thinkin is wrong and why it wont fire by electric start but pull starting forces it to start

I had similar starting problems, tried new plug, new battery, and new starter, but, no luck. My issue was the decompression lever snapped off. Mark

Ya it turns out that was my friends problem and the cam was about shot
