Anybody know if I need a certain year yfz callipers to fit my 400ex hubs and spindles? I have heard that these callipers paired with the master cylinder from a street bike are the best front brake setup you can get. Anyone else tried this?

Look in the 400ex section for more info. From what I can remember any year YFZ and Raptor front calipers will bolt rite up

I think it's 06' and up, what ever year they switched to dual piston on the YFZ are the ones you are after. The pads look the same as stock 250r ones for the most part.

I think he is correct now that I think back. The rear was what they switched.

All year YFZs have the same front calipers. The rear caliper was changed to a dual piston on the '06 and up.

I'm running a TRX450R master cylinder, braided lines, YFZ calipers, 400EX spindles and 250R hubs and rotors on my Walsh YZ.

Wow, that's a Heinz 57 setup, lol. How do you like it?

I was gonna put TRX450R spindles, hubs, rotors, and calipers on, but to do that you need a new upper a arm that is 3/4" longer in order to be able to get the camber and caster right. That was gonna be so much money that when I heard YFZ calipers would fit my 400EX spindles and fix my problem....I was able to find the entire YFZ brake assembly (master cylinder, lines and calipers with pads) for $60 so I just did that instead.

X2 -I would also like to know if it's better stopping power or just easy replacement.

Twin piston calipers will always be superior to single piston calipers.

06+ 450r spindles are the same as 400ex with the exception of the caliper mounts, I know someone who went as far as swapping a set out on a 400ex and the frontend adjustment stayed the exact same in every way.

X2

Did this on my son's hybrid. 06+ spindles, hubs, brakes.

I thought it was the '04-'05 450R spindles were the same design as the 400ex spindles.

Hey Denny, the 04/05 spindles won't work with 250r/400ex hubs and the tie rod position is different I believe. They are supposed to work better for all years of the 450r but the a-arm position is different on the 450r too so that changes everything when used on a 250r.

I have 400ex spindles on my Walsh 250R with 250R brakes (adapter plate). I brought 06+ spindles and when I compared the two they were identical except for the caliper mounting.

Never compared the 04&05 to the 400ex.
