I found a hinson 8 plate clutch basket and pressure plate for sale and was wondering if anyone could tell me how to confirm its a 8 plate and not a 7 plate? Like a serial number or measurement i could take to confirm? Any help would be appreciated, thanks! FYI-there is no plates in the basket in the advertisement.

I think these are stamped "TRX250R - 02" (or something similar to that) right inside the basket. Easily seen with no plates in there. The "TRX250R - 01" was the 7 plate design.

keep in mind that you will also need the matching 8 plate inner hub to be able to run this set-up. and those are becoming harder and harder to find.

you also have to have a quick change side cover, to use this.

So there is 2 different types of quick change covers, one for 7 plate and one for 8? Also doesnt hinson still make the 8 plate inner hub? Or maybe that is the pressure plate i am thinking of? Anyone know were i could find a inner hub to run a 8 plate clutch? Thanks for all the help, i def learned alot today.

Hinson made a few sidecovers in the beginng, that would not allow you to run 8 plate. If you call them and tell them that your 8 plate will not fit behind your side cover, they will sell you a new cover for half price that will. I had one of those.

I ran my 8 plate with the stock cover... Bolts appear to have just barely rubbed the cover but I ran it for 2 seasons with no trouble, and now its got a GP slingshot lockup with the same cover.
