does anyone know what can cause this: i have a 95 300ex and it will not run , it was running fine then i shut it off and it took forever to start back and it would only run at wide open throttle but not very good like 20 mph wide open 5th gear , i cant find anything wrong , it gets spark and fuel and has compression

did you do anything before this or was it running good for a long time and then all of a sudden it died? It definitely sounds like a fuel problem, i would clean the carb and drain the tank to clean it out, it sounds like your getting crap in there.

no it was running fine all day then i parked it for about an hour and it would barely start up , i have cleaned the carb , and drained the tank and the little screen where u turn the gas flow on and off ... i dont understand it

maybe the choke was on? That'll do it. Start it up tomorrow and see what happens it might have been a freek thing like the choke being on and forgot to turn it off or it got turned on by accident.

check the manual and see how much cylinder compression it has to have

nope choke wast stuck ,i think it may be out of time severly it will not start now , and its blowing gas out of the carb instead of sucking it in... it has decent compression it wont blow your finger off the hole or anything but it has it so i dont know because if it was out of time it wouldt have as much compression as it has i wouldnt think so anyhow

has the needle position been changed? i have seen a few that act like your's, and the linkage on the carb slide has came loose, pull the boot off the back of carb and work the throttle too see if the slide is moving up and down

Blowing gas out the carb? Are you sure you didn't break (or slip) a timing chain or gear?

yeah thats what i thought it was was the slide the bolts came out a few years ago and i fixed it thats what i thought i may have been again but i checked it its fine ... i guss its just gonna have to be torn apart

You could have a bent or burnt intake valve. If it's blowing fuel out filter side of the carb that's a sign of compression coming back through. I could also be a timing chain problem.

yeah could but i dont understand why it ran for about 2 miles after it happened and never started again , everyone ive hear stretching a timing chain its blown up or dropped a valve through the piston , i guess thats just honda tough for ya

i also took the intake valve cover off and cranked it over a few times and it seemed fine there nothing wierd was goin on

Are you gettting any spark???

This sounds similar to what happened to me. I can push the throttle all the way in, and it will only rev up to about 1/4 throttle. I have a DMC alien exhaust, k&n air filter, and a dynojet jet kit. I does seem like my choke could possibly be stuck.... how would i check this? Or fix it.....

yeah it gets great spark , i worked on it while today its getting fuel cause its flooding out , i checked the timing and lined up the mark through the holes with the valve covrs off nd the exhaust valve will wigle but the intake wont budge , and the manual says at TDC u should be able to move them both by hand

it hppened to me too a while back th bolts back out of the throttle slide and u will find them in the float bowl if ths is what happened , take the top of your carb of an work the throttle and if it doesnt lift up it the problem

no maybe i didnt find them in the float bowl

i squirted a little bit of oil in the cylinder today and compression picked up drastically .. so i figured it was the rings , would the rings cause it to do what it done ... by the way i took the top end off it anyways and there was a lot of carbon buildup in the combustion chamber ... anybody know what should be done
