Just kinda wanting to get some input as to whether or not ya'll would take the plunge into buying a seized 2000 Banshee for $700.00? I won't have any problem rebuilding it...I'm just kinda more wondering if its a good deal since theres another one I could get running for $1400. I can swing the $700 right now, but couldn't swing the $1400 right now, so it seems to be right in my ballpark. It has aftermarket parts like dual exhaust and nerf bars...not sure what else until morning when I see it...Thanks guys...

If I could find one near me, I'd jump on it. Prob cost you (ballpark) $800 to rebuild.
Depends on whether or not the crank is damaged. But might be able to do for less.

Im pretty stoked...to say the least. :p

Even has full skid armor but my pictures of that somehow got corrupted. Have to re-take those pictures. I guess they let a friend borrow it and apparently it was going through coolant and their friend let it get too low. I'm guessing a blown head gasket. Rolls fine, shifts through gears fine...no play in the crank or connecting rods...this could be epic if all I have to do is a quick top end on it...maybe I'll tear it completely down though, just to make sure...

Looks like a score! :D Congratulations. I'd suggest you get a Clymer's manual for the Banshee. It's got all the tolerance specs and walk-throughs with pics. It's the best $30 I ever spent.

The Clymer came with it as well...brand new with topend and bottom end pages folded in the top cornersas bookmarks like they just bought it when she seized up...lol...the bummer is I got the plastics, carbs, cylinder head, and jugs off and there is up and down movement on the right connecting rod...kinda bummed about that. O well...time to split em open.

Your pictures are gone but any shee for 700 is a deal.

Fixed the pictures, sorry about that...but yea, I've already almost got the motor out and it seems the right connecting rod has vertical play in it and I have no idea which piston came from what cylinder because the PO removed them trying to diagnose. My guess would be they felt play in the connecting rod and called it done. One piston is significantly discolored with black soot. Other than that, the only thing I know about it is, supposedly they let someone borrow it and they ran it out of coolant. We'll see what I find when the cases come apart though...:)

Still a decent deal. a hot rods crank for the banshee will run you about $500 for a new one (includes connecting rods). The pistons are gonna need to be replaced too, esp. if you need to do anything with the cylinders - thats ~$125 each and a bearings and seals kit ~$50. So you're right where I estimated. I know a shop that happens to have a used crank (with rods) from a perfectly running bike for ~$150. Left over from a stroker rebuild they did. lmk if you're interested. I can put you in touch with them.

You can get a vitos stock crank for under 400. A 4 mill for 450 i think. Maybe alittle more. And no matter what anybody says about vitos cranks, Ive seen and heard about a lot of drag motors on the eastcoast with vitos trued and welded cranks. Just my 2 cents.

Yeah, I just checked Wiseco's site and they are pretty pricey. If Vito's are that inexpensive, go for it.

Well a quick update...I think I found a crank on bansheehq for right around $100 shipped. I wanna keep this as budget-friendly as possible since the holidays are here. I'm not quite sure the cylinders need bored, probably just a nice hone. There was no low or high spots that my mic found. In fact you can still see the crosshatch marks...but some spots are pretty glazed. So $100 used stock crank, then pistons, bearings and seals and gaskets...oil, coolant, and maybe a kill switch since the family will be riding it. I'm sure these things are dangerous as hell if the throttle stuck with my wife on it...=P

That'd be one way to get rid of her

Nothing wrong with a trued + welded stock crank, and much cheaper.

Good luck with your banshee. I just bought a 2002 banshee for $400. It just needed a top end...i split the cases to check out the crank and found out it has a wiseco and all the bearings are tight.

So I've finally gotten the time to look at this thing...I had my brother-in-laws Jeep in my back yard all winter with his engine on my stand in the garage. Wish I had a brother-in-law that offered free labor. =P Anyways, It's time to get this shee up and running. I scored a stock crank in great condition for $75. I need to send it off to get it welded and I'm having a hard time finding someone reputable with a decent turnaround time. Ultimately I'd like to find someone local, but I think thats out of the question. So I went to BansheeHQ and those guys are so balls to the wall and high strung I just can't seem to get the help I need over there. I was referred to numerous site sponsors over there, and every one of them gave me the run around. I had to pony up $150 for new crankcases though. They were JB Welded in like 3 places and there was a flanged area that was completely broken off and missing. I'm on vacation the next couple weeks and I'd love to get it up and going. The cylinder is already punched out .030 over...So what's the next size larger? .040? And who makes the most complete top end and bottom end kit? If anyone feels like helping me out, links are greatly appreciated.
