i remember a while back there was an fmf ad with a raptor that had the shocks upside down and a couple of guys on another forum tried it on theirs but i forgot what they said it did but they all agreed it was better the right way i think.

lol, i cant beleive some people havent noticed that. I flipped my 300ex rear shock so that it would be easier toadjust, it didnt seem to do anything, but then again the shock would suck *** no matter what:D

Ive heard of this before on some race trucks I believe it was.
The purpose was to prevent and kind of a fluid leak from inside the shock. Dont ask me if it works though.

Does it affect the way it handles or nething like that? What if one shock was the right way and the other upside down?

It makesa difference, and usually isnt good. Shocks are built to run a certain way. They are valved to work for a certain setup. By turning them upside down, it makes the shock work the opposide o how it was designed to worl, it changes the rebound and compression of the shock. Plus by having them upside down like the guy in the first pic it makes his quad have more unsprung weight, meaning that there is more weight out on the tire instead of on the frame. This makes the shock not work as good in the small little choppy bumps. This doesnt apply to all shocks but for stockers and others made to run a certain way it does

and if i am wrong let me know

the 300 and 400's shock are differant size's on each end.
not much of a differance, but enugh so that they can't be flipped.

i don't know about the rear,....but what you said about it being easier to adjust makes' alot of sence.

stock honda front shocks are shaft up too, the black things are just covers to keep the ***** outta them.
