So i have an opportunity to possibly pick up an 88 r frame, swinger, some other parts off 88/89 r. trans, hubs, and a few other things are the other small parts. he doesnt have enough for the machine to be built. just need to find out the prices and such.

my question is would you start a frame off machine or not?

I would love to try to pick it up if the guy will wait for a while for some cash. I just dont really like the front end on the older style r's. Im sure that i could find a running 86 or 87 in decent enough shape easy enough and just restore it or buy a stock one if i can find one next year.

would it even be feasible to do a full build at this point on a decent budget using mostly stock stuff?

thoughts,
steve

Build it, then you can buy the parts that you would want on your R.

in the long run its better to bulid one from scratch and cheaper...

I bought one only to end up slowly upgrading it over time. By the time i was done i had bought an entirely new quad basically.

The cool part is that i was able to build the original quad back from the original left over parts....

The life cycle of a TRX 250r.....
.................................................. .................................................. .....
Start

You have a stock R.
You build it.
You build it some more.
Then you finally complete it and have a bad *** quad.

You then realize you have all these parts left over and should build another stock 250r from those parts.

(Repeat Cycle Here)

WTH? :huh I'll trade you 86-87 front end parts for 88+ any day of the week...

or am I not understanding your statement?

88-89 had some sort of camber change that made the front end handle much better, and reduce bump steer. Im wanting to say that they lengthend the upper A-Arm so that under compression it matched the travel of the lower A-arm.

i was just talking about the look of the fenders with the light in it on the 88/89 r not the geometry of the susp lol
