I bought a 2002 LT 80 this weekend for my son for $650. Got a couple questions. There is a plate on the left engine cover that says suzuki with 4 bolts. Can I take it off and paint it? What does it cover? Boots have worn finish off. Guessing it needs a good carb cleaning, wants to stall without choke on. Last need to replace the Decals. Where can I get cheap Decals and a front bumper?

Looks good. Yes you can pull that clutch cover off and paint it. DG and AC make some nice looking aftermarket bumpers for that bike so check them out. Not sure about the decals, I'd say check with your dealer.

A common problem with those bikes is the factory vacuum operated fuel petcock failing and filling engine with fuel if it sets for a day or two without being started.

Also, if the bike is completely stock, there are a few restrictors installed that you can remove to get a bit more power if you ever want to

I just had that same problem. I went to the auto part place and found an inline fuel shutoff for 5$. works gereat. My quad is stock what are the things you can do to add power? I like something for now as I will be sending it out for work to lt80 after christmas.

All LT80/KFX80's come over with the limiters in place. Some dealers remove them, some don't.

In case you don't know what they are:
1) a brass ring placed above the carb slide to limit the slide travel.
2) a washer between the cylinder and pipe.

Cleaned the carb and removed the black boot around the main jet. Runs good. What is the purpose of the black boot. I got a set of decals of ebay for $ 70 including shipping from UK. Kit has front noise decal, both tank ,and #80 decals. They have another kit that includes rear fender decals for $90.

Tried to attach picture, but it is too big....wth

I believe that black boot is a type of anti slosh device. It makes a little seal between the jets and the bottom of the carb bowl. Forcing the fuel to be sucked out of the bottom of the carb. It is supposed to help out when things get bouncy to keep a constant supply of fuel to the jets. That being said, I have ran with and without them and did not notice much differenece.

I imagine that's what Suzuki thought..LOL
I find they can crush and block the jets.
I throw them away.:)
