Well, Presidents day weekend me and my cousin were in his bronco heading up state to ride. We go up there many times a year, and we always pass the Roundout Reservoir. The Roundout goes to NYC, and on one side has a very nice steep grassy damn. Everytime weve ever gone by we would say "Gee, that sure would be fun to sleigh ride down"

Well this time I was like "Hey, ya know what everyone always talks about, but no one ever does??"

We pulled over, got out the sled and went for one crazy run down the dam. you have to hop a fence plastered with big yellow signs, "No one beyond this point for any purpose"
We didnt even think about it, we walked to the middle of the damn and down we went, just one run. We walked back up, headed toward the truck, and just as we were hopping back over the fence the cop was there waiting for us.
Officer "Do any sleigh riding boys?"
Us "Little bit officer"
Officer "Pretty obvious you saw the signs"
Us "Yea......"
Officer "Wanna get this over with now? or in 2 weeks?"
Us "Now"
We headed to court, unfortunetly there was no judge, and OH YEAH! He took us to the wrong damn court!!!!!
So yeah, we have to go to the RIGHT court this Friday to see a judge and find out what our fines will be, anywhere from 35 dollars to 250 dollars each.
He said to us "What possessed you boys to do that??"
I said "Officer, have you ever seen that hill??"

Another cop that was in the court house said "So, did you atleast make the bottom?"
Sure did, at about 120mph

The cop wasnt really a jerk, I mean we broke the law so we have to pay the consequences, but he kept asking about our quads, trying very hard to get us in trouble, asked about 5 times if we were planning on riding on any state land, NO, its illegal to do that! what are we stupid??

Good story to tell your kids, about being a rebel when you were younger. Just think how much bigger that hill will be when you tell it in 20 years.

Well, I just got back from court......It went pretty well, the judge was a comedian.....the whole court room laughed at us
"You did what boys? Sleigh riding down the Dam!? I always wanted to do that! But ya know what stopped me? Its against the law, thats right."
He also wanted to scare us a little I suppose so he gave us 15 days in jail, and we were like "uh what??"
Then he continued, suspended sentence if you fail to complete 25 hours community service, he said we had intent on doing it so 25 hours it was, I explained it was spur of the moment, we were on our way somewhere else, soooo, he knocked it down to 15 hours.
So I think we got off pretty easy, my community service isnt until the summer, and ya know the judge was still cool about it, he asked what kinda sled we used, we said our five foot tobagon, he was like oh man that musta been a blast, and he figured we get an hour community service for every 2 seconds of sleigh riding.

Heres a pic we took of the officer who arrested us from my cousins truck.........he wouldnt put us in his car because we were covered in snow and ice, so we were just escorted...

Lol, so if you killed someone just because you were full of snow he would make you drive to the wrong jail? Haha..

Lets get a pic of the dam you went down. Sounds like fun. Ya should have asked the officer to try going down the hill himself. Maybe he would have changed his mind.:devil

Lol, sounds like fun, except for gettin the 15 hours of community service. Get some pics of the dam man. Lol, at my friends camp theres this bridge that goes over the lake and we always go to the bridge and jump off it, and right where we jump off theres a sign that says no jumping, we just gotta watch for the cops, one day there was one sitting down the road and we think he saw us so we just swam back to his camp.

heres a good one for ya'all

At our high school we have a "pep rally" supposed to get you all excited for the football game right? They are outside in the main stands and in the football field. The whole school comes out teachers and all. The cheerleaders come out and blah blah blah. I was thinking man 4-wheeler are so cool, and so are wheelies. Now I am not saying I ditched the pep rally and rode my Honda acrossed the field for everyone to see in a cool wheeile, but I am not saying I didn't either.

Revenge of the old posts......

But hey, I was getting Access permit passes to hunt some of the land around the reservoir the other day and I cam across this pic of the Dam!
You cant tell how big or steep it is from the pic, but it gives you an idea. The reservoir is about 8 miles long...
You can see the road on the right if you look close.....
We walked out to the middle of that thing to go down, across the top where its flat

I actually just finished my community service last week!!
That wasn't too fun. But I have to say, the ride was well worth it;)

I have a pretty good similar story...

There is a big dam in the valley near my mom's house, and we have been going swimming there illegally for years. It's the same type of deal; everyone knows it is there and that there are rope swings and some small cliffs to jump off of into the ridiculously deep manmade lake. It used to be open as a state park in the late 70's, but people (typically younger adults and high school kids) kept drowning, so the state closed it off. Now there's a $500 fine if you're caught back there.

So a few years back i was down there with my sister and a few of her friends, when all of a sudden we start hearing gunshots! this is usually a place to just go and hang out, and hearing repeated pistol fire pretty much scared the sh** out of most of us there. so we were debating on running like hell when we saw the bullets spitting up water, and decided someone was just having a bit of target practice. before long a group of ghetto wannabe's from a local area full of rich folk came up, all carrying pistols and trying to impress each other. i have honestly never seen a dumber or more dangerous group. i got the impression that most of them (there was a bunch, seven or eight of them) had taken their father's guns for this little 'outing' and had no clue what to do with them. ALL of these kids then HID THEIR PISTOLS IN THE IVY AND DEAD LEAVES and went swimming.

when they walked up we were still debating about what to do with ourselves, but noone wanted to just up and leave, as this might upset the new arrivals. when they started swinging off the rope into the water, we decided we would be leaving, and started getting our gear together.

the dam/reservoir is set down in a valley and completely surrounded by trees, so it muffles sound from outside very well. as we were starting to walk away, the Delaware state police chopper swung around the outer trees and into view of us, with a rider shouting over the PA for all of us to stand still and wait for the park rangers to come and get us. so what did we do? dove into some bushes to get out of view and started discussing the best routes along which to run like hell! we were there just long enough to watch two of the guys NOT BE ABLE TO FIND THEIR GUNS AGAIN before they ran off in the other direction, then we split.

sorry for the long, long, post. just thought i would share a similar experience. anyone else have any good stories?

oh, yeah, i don't know what happened to the gun-toting bandits, but my group got away clean....
