12.5:1 piston - CP
Ported head - Baldwin
Cams - Baldwin

I've seen good results from that combo. I have also seen a nice setup with the same but Web cams.

I have an 06 that is set up for race gas. 14:1 piston head work , stage 2 cam, etc...

was going to build a new bike and wanted to get away from the race gas... it has gotten to be both expensive and a pain to get here.

but i have gotten used to having the power and don't want to give up to much. I have never even rode the old bike stock, so i don't even have a real comparsion from where it started.

Save some money and port it yourself. Get a dremel and make the ports as huge as possible. The bigger the better.

I had a 12.5:1 CP Piston, locally ported head, and a stage 2 hotcam and it was an awesome combo

Im a +30 mx'er too. I have an 08 that I didn't really want to a lot of motor work to but at the same time I didn't want a stock one either. Norris Quinn does my engine and shock work. What we did was simply:

CRF450 cam and a CRF450 head gasket. The head gasket is thinner than the TRX one which actually raised the comp without repalcing the piston. My motor is now basically equiv to the CRF motor (or a close 2nd) I use no airbox lid and a K&N as well. A good pipe (like DASA or Sparks etc) and you'll have pretty much what you want without tapping into the wallet too bad AND still be able to use pump gas.

short term i've ordered a hotcam stage 2 cam. i'll do all of the hrc needle/jet etc... remove the airbox lid, i already have extra filters and a yoshimura pipe. And work through a port job, later this winter.

Looks good! I'm interested to see how you like the stage 2 cam. I have the same mods on my 05 other than the cam, so I'm still on the fence about which cam I want.

Yea I hear it's a great cam! I'm just wondering how it will affect low end since it's considered more of a top end cam.
