ok, so i just put the new cdi on my 250r, and it still doesnt start, it has great compression, its getting gas, and the carb is clean, so why is it not starting?

Your missing one key thing. Spark. Have you checked for spark?

no, they're all good, they're not chipped, scratched, or loose, they look brand new

I would maybe squirt a little starting fluid in the cylinder just to see if fires. I know you said its getting gas but I would do it anyway just to eliminate spark. Did you actually do a compression check? Think the stock compression should be around 160 maybe. Sure one of the 250r regulars can verify.

If everything you say is correct, the compression is good, reeds look good, I only see two possibilities.

Something goofy with your gas. Either your gas is bad, or your jetting is SO far off it won't fire. Like somebody recommended, try a little starting fluid to see if it fires.

There's also the possibility that your ignition timing is off, which can only mean your flywheel key is sheared (or missing).

Those are the only two possibilities I can see.

it must be the gas or the jetting then, what should the jetting be at? i live in aurora il, i dont know what the elevation is, and im not sure waht all is done to the motor, i ahvent had it apart, the guy i bought it from said nothing was stock, and its bored to a 270

bad gas should still start the bike, It can cause serious damage but the bike should still start or at least show signs of life.

jetting has to be very far off for it to not start the bike. I once had a pilot jet 5 sizes too small and it started my bike.

did it run before you changed the cdi? and why did you change the cdi?

are you sure the bike isn't flooded?

i had to change the cdi because the old one burnt out, it had zero spark
