Well our season started early this year. Back in feb I hit the road and did the drive from MD to FL and back to MD in 36 hrs to pickup Joey's new race bike. 2008 apex pro mxr. We gave it to him for his birthday. Our plan was for him to run this in the stock 90 class for this year in the dirt drags. Well in the off season they changed the rules and made all "factory production race bikes" run in the mini mod class. So off to the mod class we go. Started looking for different tracks to run. Found a few and started traveling. We were keeping him in the mini mod class and he was winning. Started looking at time slips of the next class up (blaster classes) and he was close. Lost a motor in late June. Well we are in the mod class now so why not build it. Well TOO much money and alot of traveling to clutch and dyno tune with Mr Hetrick and we are back in tip top shape ready to give the big boys a run for their money. Came back from dyno on fri and to the track on mon night for our fair race. He made one practice pass slow and easy and all was well. Lined up for first race and lights came down and he found himself on his back in the staging lights. Knocked the wind out of him and he ended up taking a ride to the er in the ambulance. He was fine and we were back out practicing on wed night. Back to racing sat and sun the same week. 700 miles of driving to race but he was right back in the saddle again and by sun was winning both mini mod and blaster classes. So now we are racing 4 to 5 times a month and doing well. We start watching the points in one race series we run in. He is doing well and wining in the points in the blaster class. 2 points races left and he is in the lead. Well we go to the 2nd to the last race and his bike slows down by almost 1 second. Track is rough but he's not pulling the rpm he should be. I'm trying tires gearing checking jetting to no avail. He takes 1st in the mini mod class and 4th in the blaster class. This drops his points lead down to 90 points in the blaster class. Well I go to load up and push his bike backwards and there is a clicking grinding sound and its hard to move. Go home and tear into it as the last points race for the year is in 2 weeks. We lost a tranny because a bearing retainer bolt backed out and was pushed though the cases by the gears. Order parts and off to the welder we go. Finished up and ready to go thur night for sunday race. Well we get an october snow storm and the last points race is canceled. He has won the points championship for the blaster class!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Had the banquet last night and they gave him a plaque for the mini class and a large 1st place trophy for the blaster class. A month ago we started talking bout what to do for next year and what to build and how to pay for it. Well thanks to Johny450r we started looking for sponsors and now have 5 on board for next season. ODI, Twin Air, Go Pro, Steel MX goggles, and Leatt Brace. So now we have one more race for fun this year then off to the shop for a complete tear down and rebuild for next year. What a season 18 races with running 2 classes at almost all the races. Mind you Joey is 7 and will be 8 for next year. You can follow him on hookit Joey Petrick . Passed his hunters safety coarse last month and was presented with his 1st rifle from his grandfather 22mag

Season never ENDS! lol

I am working on a small mini winter series in Elizabeth City, NC for the youth atv's. Nothing big and fancy, just good people and some good times.
