x2 it's pricey but in my opinion the best oil you can get. I ran it for three years straight always running hard motos or dune riding and when I freshened up the top end just for safety sake the piston looked brand new!

The best oil, is clean oil! Whatever you use, change it often. :D

Personally I run the same oil on both sides. Use the viewing glass on the motor side to check the level, it will take a little less than a quart (one bottle) about .80 quarts. The transmission side takes about half a quart, use the check bolt to watch your oil level, when it starts coming out of that hole plug it up and you're good to go.

the trans side take 650cc on 04-05 and i believe 750cc on 06
+. its casted into the side case by the fill plug. I use shell rotella, the white bottle 15w40 is good, i just started using the 5w40 blue bottle synthetic on both sides

x2 on rotella 15w40. Awsome oil and way cheaper than all those others. On these new 450s they recommend oil changes every 5 hours ride time or 2.5 race time. Really any oil should be good enough for this short of a time period anyways. I change my oil after every dune trip. FYI a stainless steel reusable oil filter pays itself off very quickly.

Motoul pricey but worth it. Change every 5 hours in engine, every 10 hours on tranny side.
x2 on stainless steel filter

Honda oil as per the owners manual,Honda filter, thats all Ive ever used, save the Rotella 15w/40 for your diesel hauler.....Ive seen other brand paper filters come apart and had a stainless filter have particals stuck in it that wouldnt clean out...Just my 2 cents

How do you check the right hand side as theres no eye

My quad is a 05 trx 450 so any help is appreciated

the right hand side has a check hole, it is a 10mm or phillips head bolt, if it is the correct height, it should just barely trickle out. I would not trust the view window when filling, put the correct amount in. Mine is a hybrid with crf motor, so I cant tell you the correct ml.
