Well I've got all my parts cleaned/painted/greased/polished and I picked up the frame, swingarm, subframe and flip-top seat from the powdercoater. I've not yet decided witch bottom end I'm going to use but I'm for sure using the Curtis Sparks top end and pipe that I got from Shane Hitt. I still need to take my shocks to Norriss Quinn to be serviced and pick up just a few more small parts and Ill have everything to Finnish. It will have White factory plastic with blue hood tank and seat and the frame and swingarm are white. The stem and a arms are chrome. It will have a few small blue accessorys such as asv levers case savor and blue hoses to tie it all together. Also it will have Hiper wheels with turf tammers and Token radials. No graphics kit I'm going old school and doing yellow sparks and Nacs stickers with blue #plate backgrounds.

So I thought I was going to get started and the first a-arm that I bolted on as soon as I tightend it the paint started flaking off! So I knew that I had to have it redone. After 2 more runs the coaters discovered they had bad powder. I just got it back and it looks great. We will see!!!

Dam, I just read your thread about the Powdercoat. That stinks man. At least you caught it in time though!!! I'll be lookin forward to your build to see how this beast is commin together!!! Sounds and looks like you have a Great start! Keep up the good work bud!
Thanks Higgy!

Thats funny I'm looking at his build and it looks similar to the start of my LRD build. We have the same Laeger Protrax frontend, the same Duncan Bumper and the same Handlebars. I wanna buy those extra rubber bushings for the FastFlex bars to I get the extra cushion. I believe its rebound and dampening, if I'm not mistaken? I just have the normal single bushing on each set of bars I own. I dig that idea of having cushion on both ends of the bars travel, granted its not a huge deal, but every little bit helps!!! I jealous of that Laeger frame. I need to buy one here soon, lol! Thanks Higgy!

Troy, that pipe should look familiar I got it from KSRider! lol

I did a little polishing on the engine and its good enough for me but boy thats not for someone with little patience.

Its been so nice to put this thing together with all (new) hardware!

I need opinions? I have really nice oem white plastic and a really nice set of oem red plastic. Im leaning towards the white with a black seat and carbon hood and carbon tank cover. What do you guys think?

leager-n-ky
12-08-2011, 08:03 AM
Red is gonna make that frame stand out, black down the middle is gonna look good on either one.

superman
12-08-2011, 02:31 PM
My vote is for the Red OEM as well! Especially since in my early years I ran a full Leager with white frame and red fenders!! :D You may remember that bike Dustin, I sold it to Jeremiah Jones and he won the 250A National Championship on it the following year and ran it his first year in the Pro class!!

bigmatt61

thats the dream build I have yet to build.

Im personally a fan of the white. White frame, white plastics, white scooped hood, black seat cover with the white along the back and your name on it. I think itd look clean. Either way, Im sure itll look sick Dustin

I like the old school look that Dustin is going with in the grooved radial front tires and the Turf Tamer rears!!

dustinshuler
12-15-2011, 10:26 AM
So I decided to go with the red plastic and this seat cover, also the body shop at the dealership that I work at is painting an oem hood white for me. I am also going to get a seat that goes with the white plastic so when I get bored I can just change the plastic and have a different look.

OK, just for $h!ts n giggles and to make you turn a few more wrenches :D I wanna see the black seat and carbon hood with the red fenders on that bike!! That would be a combo I have never seen, or don't recall seeing!! I think it would be neat, because in my opinion its the plain white hood and old school style Cascade type seat that is throwing the red fenders off... JMO

Hey Dustin, I have a white louvered Maier hood you can have if you pay shipping. It might go good on there..
Oh, and it looks much better by the way. I love the white on white if you can keep it clean,lol.. I think all you need is some off the wall graphics kit to set it off..

12-28-2011, 06:04 AM

Higgy87TRX425
12-28-2011, 12:07 PM
I like the red ,but I still think that the best overall color scheme that I've seen on this bike has been the white with black! That looked sick just needed some graphics, Just my 2 cents!
Thanks Higgy

Flyin_250r
12-28-2011, 02:15 PM
Dustin,

The red looks alright... But I am still a fan of the white. Some graphics would definitely tie it all in.

The question is... How long do you plan to keep this one? Trade for a hybrid? lol

Tough call on the Color of the plastics....they both look great!!

You did a fantastic job!!! :D Reminds me of the old racin' days

If you want the Rear tires grooved....try checking a tire place that does TRUCK tires.....they usually have groovers and could do it for you pretty cheap!

The motor is awesome and I bet it will run with alot of big bores. I couldnt be happier with it.

I have my own tire groover shears and thats one of the last things I have to do.

As far as the plastic goes I like both but dont worry I just picked up another Leager and I have plans for that white plastic! LOL

Dustin,
Yeah man I want to pick up one of those Laegers myself! I'd love to find a garage or barnyard sale so I could pick it up on the cheap!!!!
So if you find any deals PM me please. I wanna do a Laeger AND A Walsh build and my collection will be complete, lol!!! I see that you're making progress on yours. Anyway once again SSSSSSSSSSSICCCCCCCKKKKKK BIKE BRO! and I can't wait to see the next one. Everytime I start a build I plan on one time frame and then I multiply it by 2 and thats pretty close to how long it will take me, lol! Not you though, you bust out these builds like its ur job, ha ha! The white still looks better in my opinion! For what its worth, hey as long as ur happy thats what counts and it does have that old school feel to it! so you hit that spot on! NICE!
Thanks Higgy!

Dustin, I was thinking(uh oh).. don't you think the red would hold up much better for xc? Just a thought I guess, only reason I didn't want white plastics on mine was because I do a lot of trail riding and some hare scrambles.. lol, I'm probably just making up excuses to see it in all white. It's a sweet bike either way, really nice job...
