Well I am finally getting rid of my old exhaust (still not sure what it is since the badging is missing) but it's just in time since the end cap rivets went bad this last weekend! I'm doing the install today and hopefully my jetting is pretty easy. After that I'll post my review of it on here (and youtube for guys like 01boneless).

A lot of people on here suggested Curtis Sparks and while I would've loved to I felt that the Motoworks was a good choice. It's not loud, it's good quality, it's used by a factory team and it has everything I need to race or do some dune riding under tight restrictions. Hoping to get a sponsorship through them too, turns out Fargher can hook me up with that. The best part is that the slip-on was only $209.95! I decided against the full pipe and I'm just going to mod my header like everyone else. Stay tuned!

The install was a nightmare! My old exhaust has been on the quad for 10 years and it was completely seized. Ended up cutting off the exhaust with a grinder. Once I got that off it was easy from there but the removal of that exhaust took over an hour! The Motoworks exhaust is on and let me tell you, it is amazing! The sound is good and it's not too loud which is good for anyone who rides on state land from time to time. The powercurve is much better, my 400ex now rides like my old 450r did. If you're on the market for an exhaust pipe this is the one to buy!

I didn't jet it but I started it up and it ran fine, no issues whatsoever, and the plugs read good after a 10 minute ride so I don't see the reason to jet it if everything checks out. Since I was going from one aftermarket exhaust to another it wasn't a major change anyways.

yeah that helped for sure. just make sure those plugs are cardboard brown :D and your good not poping on deceleration?

Rohr397

Nope I'm good, every 400ex I've had pops like once or twice on deceleration and this one is no different. I could probably do a valve check but yeah the plug looks great!

Is that a pic of your bike there under your name? post up some pics of it with the new pipe!

Pops on decel means you need to adjust the air/fuel screw a turn or so out from where it is. It still does it you need to go up a pilot jet size. Common size to go with period is a 42 pilot.

CJM: yeah I will give that a try for sure.

400man: yup that's it! I will upload some pics as soon as possible, I always try but I can never get them to upload because of the size of the photo. Still pretty new to the forum since I just started using it.

Here we managed to cut the tail pipe off in order to get some free space to cut the midpipe.

As you can see the header was untouched, there is one very small nic but that's all.

Finally got the new Motoworks installed. Don't worry I cleaned all the rust and debris off the header before installing!

So a slip on made it pull similar to a 450????? I cant believe a muffler make that big a difference! I was looking at a Motoworks for my wifes Rappy 250, but they dont give jetting numbers. Also any idea what the db level is? They are getting sooooo strict here in Michigan in regards to sounds output.

Great pipe! Especially at that price...I also had the header welds ground down and modified the airbox lid with an Outerwears pre-filter. Running 152/40 for jetting right now, will probably put a 155 in it this winter for on the ice:D

dB output is around 93, very quiet pipe. And jetting specs should be under the technical section of their web page. If not a dealership should be able to tell you, mine doesn't even charge me for the jets. But yeah my 400ex already has a lot done to it so with the pipe it really just changed the distribution of the power.

It's a great pipe, it adds a lot of power but what I really like is the way it changes the powercurve. It gives a 450 feel to it.

I like that, i wish i could get one for my quad. Do you have a picture of the old muffler

No I don't, but it was an old Pro Circuit T4, the first gen one. The badge was stripped off the side and the core had broken off inside the exhaust. It was a really cruddy pipe. Not trying to advertise but if you look up BWRProductions on youtube you can find all my vids and I have some of it on there and the new one too.

Good choice on going with the Motoworks. I have had mine on for about 5 months already and I love it. Good throaty sound, not too loud, awesome price and gives some hp. Highly recommend to anyone.

is the db rating 93 with the quiet core?

According to the Motoworks website, yes you will need the quiet core to get down to 93-94 dBs.

Okay thanks do you have an idea what it is without the quiet core?
