I have to replace my a-arms on my 300ex. I refuse to pay 700+ for 2" wider aftermarket a-arms, so i decided to either go with
a) 400ex a-arms
b) 250r a-arms
c) 300ex a-arms with wheel spacers?
I know that the 250r have adjustable camber and replacable ball joints, but which do u guys reccomend. They are going to be used a-arms that i purchase, so which woulds like a better idea. I am leaning towards choices a and b, but im not sure yet. thanks guys

any coments or suggestions? i also have works front shocks with rezzies, so shocks will not need replacing, only a-arms.

spacers work good for the price

I would say go with the wheel spacers, or just flip the front rims if your just looking to get wider, but if they are damaged go with either a or b.

yeah, the ball joints are damaged, and the a-arms are dinged up. The 250r and 400ex a-arms bolt up w/o modifications, correct? if they do, it hink im going to go with the 250r, because there are all sorts of powdercoated 250r a-arms with tierods for around $150-$200. any more comments?

Using 400ex or 250R A-arms works but it requires moving the upper shock mount to get the geometry correct. County Park sells a bolt on mount to move the upper shock mount for 400ex shocks and a-arms.

do i have to move the shock mount even if i have aftermarket shocks? i am not worried about how low the a-arms will sit to the ground, because i do not do a lot of trail riding. will i put added stress on the front suspension components if i dont relocate the shock mount?

and a very tuff an well built shock mount from county park racing for $85...it was well well worth it

If you don't care about it sitting 2" lower than stock then buy QuadMX18's a-arms and tie rods (that's a good deal for $75 shipped!) and use your shocks.

but having the quad sit that lower is not a concern. I just dont want to ruin the ball joints, because they are not replacable (or are they?) and i will be back from where i started. Will there be any added stress on the ball joints or spindels from being lowered, or even the bushings in the top and bottom of the shock? What if the ball joints on the a-arms start to get loose, and then are finally garbage. Can i cut/drill them out and replace with aftermarket, or do i have to buy new a-arms??

I don't think it's any more stress on anything form being lowered. Plus for the price you can't go wrong even if they only last a year. And I don't believe that all 250R a-arms have replaceable ball joints but I could be wrong. There are sevaral people on here who have replaced ball joints by cutting off their old ones and putting a sleeve in and using threaded ball joints. I just ordered two new Laegers ball joints for my 400EX lower a-arms so I can adjust the camber the way I like it. There is nothing wrong with my current ball joints, I just want to be able to give myself some camber adjustment. I will be cutting off my ball joints and welding in the sleeves myself.

thanks a lot guys, i appreciate the info. i am going to be buying a set of 400ex a arms and tierods as soon as i can. I have had money saved up for aftermarket a-arms, but realized that 400ex a arms add the same width that aftermarket a arms do, with about 1/4 of the cost. Is there any way that you guys could post pics of how to cut/drill the a-arms on the stock a arms. thanks guys
