My neighbor has a 89 Honda 200sx!! And it smokes and the clutch slips and it is just a horrible bike!! He doesnt really know the first thing about fourwheelers exept the gas, shift, and brake. Would a Blaster be a good bike for him?

If your friend wants to work on a quad it is. The blasters require a lot of attention. They are very good bikes though. My 3 friends started out on them. My friend is selling one if he is interested PM me if you/he is. If your friend is experienced on quads then I would say its good, but the blasters have a hard ride.

I would go with a yamaha warrior. It's a 4-stroke so its reliable and you can pick a good used one up for like $2500. Also it has a good amount of power to learn on.

This kid could not handle a 400ex, he would piss all over himself if he even sat on it, LOL. And his dad is a real prick, he wont help him work on it or even let him mess with it. And he is pretty poor.

If that is what you can afford then it is a ok quad but my friend bought one as his first quad and it almost changed my mind about buying a quad. The suspension is terrible and it is pretty weak. If he is smaller than I am then it might not be so bad but I would go with a 250ex or 300ex which you should be able to pick up pretty cheap used.

I dont think the suspension is a problem, he prolly weighs 150 to 160. But the most air ive ever seen him get is half a foot, if that. My little 7 year old brother has a LT80 and he gets more air than my neighbor on his 200sx!

if hes gonna use it for the trails the blaster is a good quad for a beginner if they dont mind learning to use a clutch. if you leave a blaster stock(especially leave oil injector on) it will last a long time. it was four years before i had to put a piston in mine. once you start modifying them and racing they require a lot of maintenance. if youre just trailriding you dont have to do much maintenance and its basically bulletproof

Blasters are also good because you can get them for a lot cheaper. You could get an allright used one for about $1,800 thats not in too bad shape. Or of corse you could get a new one for a little over $3,000.

Did he like the 200sx? If so, I would get something similar to that. Going to a Blaster is a night and day difference... 2 stroke versus 4 stroke, Blaster is louder, Blaster requires more maintenance, and the Blaster is alot faster than the 200sx. My initial thought would be an older stock Honda 250x, or a 300ex which has electric start. The 250x and 300ex are very reliable machines, even if they have been neglected!:macho
I don't know much about the 200sx, but if he likes it, it maybe cheaper to get her tuned up than buy a different machine!:)

I agree. I would try and find a 250X or 300EX first just because they are easier to maintain and work on.

I wouls say the 250ex would be the best quad if the kid is that bad of a rider. It is a semi sport-quad with no clutch and it has reverse and electris start. 4 strokes are very reliable compared to 2-strokes. I definetly know that for a fact my little brother bought a 1996 kawasaki Bayou 220 over the summer. He beats the sh1t out of it. lol He jumps stuff that my friends and i jump with our banshees, blasters, and my 300. He even takes it muddin with bald tires. And im talkin about MUD. That bike will never die, as long as we keep on changin the oil and put on tires due to burnouts on pavement. lol

I would say a Blaster is a great begginer quad. Its good to learn how to use a clutch and a Blaster is perfect for that. I wouldn't say a 4 stroke is more reliable than a 2 stroke. 2 stroke motors don't have to be rebuilt as often as you think. Parts will have to be replaced more often, depending on how hard and how often you ride it. I have a 1990 Blaster and it only has had 2 rebuilds ever. Blasters aren't known for having stators go bad. I have had that problem before, but the kid I bought it from didn't have the side case tightened up. A blaster is quite reliable, if you keep up on matinence and take care of it(just like any other quad). If you buy a quad that looks like a piece of crap ,then thats what you got. Blasters aren't bad, Hondas do have better suspension, but Blasters are faster than Hondas, except the 250r and 400EX. No matter what he buys, tell him to have fun and ride safely!

The blaster is a great quad for the price. the 200 two stroke is pretty spunky.

The blaster is a very respectable quad. I learned to use a clutch on one. I thought the suspension was awesome until I got a 300ex. Riding between the two I would really let size make the desicion (sp?) In my opinion the smaller rider will like the blaster better the ergos are pretty tight even compared to the 300ex. Just my opinion some will agree and some will say that I'm wrong.
