The 250R Cross Compatibility Chart shows that a 450R axle will fit in a 250R with a 450R's carrier and brake set up. Can anyone confirm this? I know I will also have to use 450R hubs. I have a +1+4 RPM Dominator II axle lying around that I would like to put to use in my 86 250R without extensive mods if possible.

When I created that chart I was told by several on here that it would work as you described. I have not tried it myself. But I have had both carriers in my hand and they are almost identical.

I checked other forums and did an extensive google search. From what ive read, the only major issue is that the rear sprocket will be out of alignment with the front by about a 1/2". I think I will sell the axle. Thanks for the reply.

I have a custom swingarm on a atc of mine. It can use either 250r or 450r stuff. When using 250r stuff, chain will be very very slighlty off. I am using all 250r stuff in the rear end. Its not 1/2", its more like 1/16". 1/2" is not even usable being that far off, chain would jump off immediately.

I wanted to know this as well as I have all the 450 parts but i need an XC RPM axle,
RPM doesnt make the xc axle for the 250r anymore so i i need to use the 450R axle inside a 250R swingarm, the 450R brakes, bearing carier hubs etc is no problem,

this would be going on a walsh 250r so i dont want something rigged,
so can someone help

The carriers are a different width, 450r is like an 1/8th inch narrower, so you must use 450r carrier on 450r swingarm, 250r carrier on 250r swingarm. I dont know about the axles in terms of sprocket offset, but the antifades (brake hub), and caliper setups can be switched with minimal shimming. For example, I have a 250r axle/carrier swingarm with a 450r caliper/plate, fade nut/rotor, and all I had to do was add a washer between the caliper and the caliper plate to get the caliper lined up with the rotor.

This was my experience as well.

I have the same axle but for a 250r, my R has a 450R swinger so if your interested might be interested in a trade

I am very interested if your axle is clean and straight.
