Stock 88-89 flywheel and wiring harness, with an LRD unlimited rev box. Very good set-up, I use to run it with my LRD 350 Power valve motor, and its what all the Team Nacs Pro riders ran when I was a mechanic on there. I still have one in the tool box!!

Is it as good as a cr250 ignition? Cause the person i just bought the motor off of said it had a cr250 ignition before he sold it to me.

Its a very good setup, but I wouldn't accept it being passed off as a CR ignition by another member on here, just for the fact that thats false advertisement and not the kind of stuff we as atv enthusiast tolerate on forum communities such as this. I saw your motor shipping post as well and was very disappointed! No doubt the motor was dropped, but I have to believe thats the way the motor was shipped, because I know for a fact that Fed-Ex is in the shipping business and not the packaging business, they would not have "re-boxed" the motor as claimed, they would have called you and made you come to their hub and pick it up in person if it was in that bad of condition! Good Luck, Ryan

For sure not a CR ignition just as superman said, size of flywheel and amount of wires in the harness are a dead giveaway.

Here is a couple pics of my CR ign from ESR. The first pic is a stock flywheel next to the CR flywheel. The second pic is of the whole setup.

if it was shipped through fedex and was dropped at the sort facility i can guarantee that the package was re-taped and loaded into a ULD container as normal. ask me how i know this?

i worked in the atlanta sort facility as a package handler for 5 years. if a box was dropped or damaged it was sat to the side then it was re-taped at the end of the sort and loaded up. they figure if something is damaged then the customer can file a complaint after receiving the package. i suggest anything that you ship you ship it packaged tight and well. if you saw how the packages ran on the conveyor belts and slid down the slides in those warehouses you would see that stuff gets damaged veery easily. packages are pushed down slides 2 stories high and slam into the scanning areas lol. imagine a 50lb. motor hurling down 1 of those slides at high speed and flipping onto the ground. then again it could have been that was when it was shipped lol idk

Does a stock CDI have a rev limiter ?

only upgrade in that ignition is the LRD rev box.... and i dought it holds the same value as the cr ignition.

A stock (OEM) Capacitor Discharge Ignition (CDI box) has a maximum RPM of somewhere around 8500 for a 88-89 TRX 250R, where as the LRD box and CR box both peak around 11,000 RPM! The reason for using the CR flywheel is its smaller and lighter and lets the bike rev alot quicker, but you do lose torque. With the LRD box we still ran the 88-89 TRX flywheel, so we gained RPM but also kept plenty of torque.

I've never heard of a rev limiter on a 2 stroke. Thanks for the info.
