Gasket....

Well... just recently i rebuilt my 400 into a 416... but i now have a slight problem... my valve cover gasket leaks.... all bolts are tight... but i know my gasket was reused... i had a cometic top end kit for the build and it did not come with that one gasket... so i thought i did not need it... my question is this... can i just use a gasket maker material? or am i gonna have to buy a complete gasket kit???

A thin strip of rtv around the surface and you should be good. Make sure to clean off gasket material tho.

i second this. also make sure you are torquing the bolts in a cross pattern like you would a wheel.

^^x3 i reused my valve cover gasket on my ex 5 or 6 times just put gasket sillicone (rtv) and torqe each bolt to 7 ft lbs
