I just ordered a complete pipe for my 400 and had a couple questions on the install. First, I looked at my rubber gaskets that go between the header and cylinder and they seem to be in real good shape. Should I replace them anyways and does anyone use non OEM gaskets that work better? Should I put any type of exhaust sealer on the headpipes during installation? My Clymer manual doesn't say much about this so I thought I would ask. Thanks.

the gaskets between cylinder and header are made of copper, they crush to match the contour/edge of the header and seal any imperfections

i personall have replaced them when i took the header off, they cost like $2 a peice and i figure $4 is worth not messing with a leak

my $.02

dealer has them but they are a pain to get the olds ones out. I tapped on the bottoms VERY LIGHTLY in then used a mechanics pick to pull them out

im 35-40 min from the dealer, really its easier to order stuff online, and they give you a 10% discount card with your purchase
