View Full Version : Free 250x what engine?

Welp scored a free 250x today, Engine is junk.
Got to thinking what to do with this pile. Kinda been wantin another 2 strock, so why not. But qustion is what engine? Thinkin a 250 bike engine but finding one cheap. I have fount a 125 cr pretty cheap so how would that push a ol 250x. Love the way this bike fills it's small and would be VERY fun with some power behind it. So help me brain storm. I got a weld, torchs and a frige full of beer......ready to get started on this.

How much bigger is the 250? I have fount a kawi, with a 300 kit down in it for a cheap-ish price. Needs top end redone but still cheap. Allso goin to be doin the 450 swinger, 400ex arms, and some sorta shocks. IM lookin in the end to have less than a grand in this, Yea its not goin to be very pretty but fast...well yes!

The 125 would just be more suitable to the chassis

really thinkin this over, i striped the chassis down, made some gussets and few outher things. All i need now is a engine. Thinkin a cr 125 punched out a bit. What about pipe? how hard is it goin to be to snake a pipe in there.

I had a 250x back in the day and its not going to be stable with much added power,
I had mine bored to right at a 350 and a cam hi comp piston etc and it made it want to stand up real bad and tippy in corners,
you will need to widen it, spacers would be the cheap option, and you will need to have the rear shock worked to keep it from standing up when u hit then gas

My cousin used to race in the 90's in the four stroke pro-am class. There is all sorts of things you can do to make them pretty awesome.

I would use some 400ex arms and stuff. If you could get my hands on a 350x motor that's what I would try to put in it.

350 x will bolt right in all you have to do is notch the one rear motor mount and poweroll has some kit for it i think like exhaust or something ..
