bogging down 250ex

I was out riding my nephews 2006 250ex yesterday and noticed when you give it throttle it takes off fine but when you throttle it hard it bogs down until you shift to next gear could this be because he put a slip on hmf pipe on and didnt jet carb?

yes the carb needs to be jetted correctly for any mods done to the motor, double check I bet he removed the airbox lid so im sure the motor is running lean now causing the bog, if you pull the choke some and it starts running alittle better then theres your answer.:cool:
