Hey guys I live in Indiana and I have a 08 450ER with a HRC headpipe, white brothers carbon pro pipe, sparks intake ring and filter, valves were just adjusted. Thing seems to run lean, backfires on decel and cuts out sometimes, heres what its jetted at - 162 hrc main, hrc needle on the 3rd clip, 55 leak jet, and 2 turns out on the fuel screw. pulls fine just seems to run hot and backfires?? any help?? thanks!!

sounds to lean if its a slight pop on decel than turn out your af screw or go up a piliot but if its a bad backfire go up a size on your main imho

Are you running an airbox lid?

162 main should be way lean. I would bump up to alteast a 170 and see how that feels, it will probably be on the lean side still. Might have to bump your pilot up a step or two also. If you are running an air box lid I would ditch it. Do you have the full hrc kit, or just some parts of it?

What pilot jet are you running? If it's the HRC jet then it's gonna be a 45. I would bump the main to a 168 and the pilot to a 48. Leave the fuel screw alone for now, even with the pilot change. See what that changes. If it still has a hesitation mid-throttle, lower the clip on the needle to the 4th position from the top.

my 2008 er has a HST slip on and uni filter no lid and im running a 178 main so your bike could use a much bigger main and i left the stock postion on my fuel screw and it runs spot on

Thanks for the input guys! I am not running an airbox lid. Big foam sparks filter, hrc headpipe, and white brothers carbon pro can. I could have sworn it was a lot bigger main but I tore it down and its a 162. Pilot is a 45. The needle and main are hrc parts. And the pilot is a dynojet.

I would put a 175 or 180 in it.
