I WENT TO MY LOCAL AUTO STORE TO PICK UP A NGK DPR8Z FOR MY 400EX. THEY GAVE ME A NGK D8EA PART#2120 AND SAID IT WAS THE SAME AS THE DPR8Z. ONCE I GOT HOME AND CHECKED WITH MY OLD PLUG THE D8EA IS SHORTER. IS THIS GOING BE A PROBLEM?

I would say it was autozone's error and they grabbed the wrong plug because i have always gotten the correct plug from my autozone, and the code should be the same since they didnt switch brands.

But i guess if it threads in just thread it in and see if it seems to work properly.

I'd bring it back... bring the old plug with you... the spark needs to be in the chamber and not inside the threaded hole...

yep a shorter plug isn't gona cut it.. Most people at these retail stores are ***n idiots, go off the puter, have the slightest clue as to what it going on.. Few and far do some guys actually know what they are talking about..

ok finally found a part store with the correct spark i needed. i noticed that my new plug does not have the cap that is on top of the spark plug. will this affect my bike if i dont put a cap on top of the spark plug and run it?

That little metal cap that covers the threads? I have to take that off of my plugs for the plug boot to attach to the plug. If it does work with it on there it won't hurt anything.

ok thanks i dont think i every had a plug with one either but for some reason i thought it was suppose to have it. the bike runs fine without it just checking to make sure not having the little metal cap was the only way to get the plug to fit in the boot.
