View Full Version : kx 65 doggy mid range

i was wondering if any body with the kx 65 had any trouble with a dead spot in the mid range. i have jetted on this for two weeks and had to different carbs on it....it does ok on top but struggles a bit on bottom and mid. lookin for a little help before snow flies.

yeah i followed that thread, just didnt think i had the same problem, but maybe that is the problem, Also is there another clutch cable i can use that is a little longer than the kx 65 cable? i orderes a kx 85 cable but it wont work. thanks in advance for any help someone could offer.

im still thinking our problem is in the jetting. by going from an air box to no air box im guessing. weve increased our main jet but im not sure were quite right, any body else have any trouble re jetting more air. is the air transition to drastic? any help would be appreciated.

Mid range is more effected by the needle try moving it and let us know!

Usually when the airbox is removed the motor will make more power on top but the low end is sacrificed. When a larger carburetor is used the same can happen. The combination of the two can surely cause a huge problem on the low end, one that even perfect jetting will not solve.

yes gistmars i agree with you. but some how ive gotta slow the air down, theres no room for an air box. just picked up a different filter, ill let you know if it helps. thanks alot.

With a UNI style filter on the carb, and a Trackside, or Pro Circuit pipe, I have found a range of 185 to 200 main jet work good. I used a 27.5 pilot jet. I would have to look what needle I used. I would go lean-

A Power Now might help with making the air flow more consistent at lower rpm.
