so Im great at corners for the most part but the yfz is not my favorite for jumping. I enjoy the power but it seems like it always wants to nose dive and damnit it sketches me out. I need some advice or else im going back to a 400ex and putting a wider axle, shocks and a-arms on it and calling it good because the ex's are great jumping. Even on my sisters 300ex i feel more comfy jumping gaps and tabletops

give it a bigger shot of gas off the jump

or just make sure you're not letting off before you get in the air. It's not like those bikes are impossible to jump. People do it all the time haha. Just keep practicing. I'm sure you'll get used to it.

Your best best is to stay on the throttle up the face of the jump. Also make sure you dont tap the brakes as this will cause the front end to dive...I had no problem jumping my yfz back when I had it and the power is substantially more then the 400ex once you get used to it im sure you'll like it more.

Sounds like a throttle problem. The YFZ is a good jumper( first quad to back flip).

keep it WFO off the jump :p

Body position is the #1 key to jumping. #2 is throttle control i dont let off the gas until im in the air and i dont completely let up i just keep it idle and then wide open when i land

x2 thats good advice, also make sure your rear suspension is set up correct, you need to have the correct amount of rebound otherwise it might be bucking you a bit off the lip if its set too fast.

I would say just give it more time, i had a YFZ and have rode quite a few and they already feel like they sit low in the front if you ask me, that is also what i never really liked about them. It kinda feels like nothing is out in front of you.

Thats also what alot of yami guys say they dont like about the hondas, is that they set up so high, rather then the yfz feels like its sitting pretty low to me...

Just give it some more time to get used to it and as stated by thelane maybe you will have to turn your rebound down a couple notches.

Good luck! :D

Nose dive = more gas to level you out.
front end high = tap rear brake to pitch it down

stay on the gas up the face and sometimes if its a big gap i will finish off the throttle wide open before i actually leave the ground. Ive hit jumps wide open from corner to in the air. If the jump is built right and your body position is correct you will have no problem landing perfect

400ex jumps like a big heavy utility quad...yfz jumps similar to a motocross bike....

its not the suspension ...or the throttle...purely rider, as stated its most likely your throttle control

adjust your shocks for your weight if you haven't already. When i first got my trx 450 i didn't feel comfortable on it at all until i switched to the triple rates i had on my 450. after that it felt a lot alike to the 400ex but more stable.
