Well I've been looking for a few weeks, but I finally picked up a nice 250r last night. It has quite a few goodies on it: stock cylinder with 295 sleeve and real stroker crank, new Gibson LT a arms, newer elkas all the way around, all 4 hipers, nice lrd pipe, 400ex spindles, and a few other goodies.
This guy never even rode this quad, he has been building it and had it listed for sale as an unfinished project, he texted me some pics of the bike finished and said come get it Wednesday
Pics to follow.
If anyone is looking to trade mx style +2 or +3 long travel arms for these gull wing gibsons let me know.
Also interested in working out a deal on these elka LTs for something different.

Something is deff wrong with that front suspenstion setup.

I love my Gibson LT arms for mx (+3 LT with Custom AXIS)

but they sit no where near that high. Mine sit bones level. Your shocks are way way to stiff for that front end.

If you decide to sell that bumper let me know.

It looks like an older CR250 ignition, from the early to mid 90's perhaps, with a weight (factory?) on the flywheel.

Looks like a weighted cr Flywheel. What's the s/n on the cdi that will be the tell tail sign if its a 2001 or not.

Top secret... Lol just kidding. I got a pretty good deal on it. Not going to give an exact dollar amount because I'm not sure what my intentions are yet.
Where about in Ohio you from?

Your probably believing right, CR250R ignition set up with weighted flywheel.

Looks like its been under water though.
Pull the oil fill cap off on the clutch cover, take a light & look down in & see if it as been any water in the clutch & transmission area.
Neil

I missed something first look, look at the ignition adapter plate at the top, see that adjusting slot where the bolt mounts it to the cases. That more than likely means it is a CT Racing adapter plate because of the slot.

I looked down in the clutch cover last night didn't see any water but I did find what I'm assuming is a hinson clutch basket. I am going to drain the oil tonight just to make sure.
Was this early cr250 igintion a common upgrade? It seems to work really well, I would have to say this motor definately runs better than my old ct310. Suposedly its a 295 cylinder with 4mil stroker crank. Not sure how many CCs that would be.

Even though it is a early model CR ignition system & anilog CDI just like the ol TRX ignition, it is far better than the TRX system would even think about being.

The weight, is an attempt to get the flywheel back to the weight of the stock TRX flywheel, so the feel & performance output out of the engine will feel just about the same as if the stock TRX ignition was still in place.
That CR flywheel, being smaller with out the weight, will cause the engine to rev up way faster & slow down quicker than one with the stock TRX ignition flywheel & in turn cause a rider to adjust to how the engine responds.

This light flywheel idea, is what has been done to the new 4 pokes you see today to make them rev up faster & make the owner think they realy have something different.
Put a real flywheel on them new 4 pokes & they got nothing more than what was produced years ago.

Well that's good to know, I'm suprized we don't see more of these older style ignitions then. It does seem to work really well. It has much better throttle response than stock and high rpm performance is what I noticed most.

the weight is a good thing for taking off and lugging the machine out it'll have more grunt plus helps keep the vibration down. without would give more faster throttle responce and faster rev down's. depending on what year trx you have the connecting rod will be 5mm longer than a cr250's rod plus alot of the cr's had power valves, i put a cr 250 ignition in mt 88 trx 310 it worked great and all that rust is water getting in either through the grommet or gasket so when water gets in it cant get out so the heat from the motor will condensate in the side cover and make the ignition run in moist conditions thats a problem power loss crap throttle responce. just sayin.
