how much difference will taking my chock off my carb if i have full system white bros exhaust, open air box lid, and k&n filter, it seems like it could use more air.

Not much, I feel its not worth it to even do.

Id spend my money on a new cam

ok, can i put an aftermarket cam in with stock engine? will i need better than stock gaskets? stage 2 or stage 3? i heard stage 2 is low end and 3 is top end. but not for sure and how much are they different?

stage 1 is more lowend stage 2 is mid with a little topend and 3 is mid and way more topend

i ride trails, usually fast trails, but where i want more power if for when i rode ride. i think i have plenty of low end power and not enough mid to high, so im interested in the stage 2, but if i get only a stage two what other things will i need to do so my engine runs right.

Removing the choke on the stock carb wont do much , Converting to a 450r carb is a good mod to look into if your looking more power out of that 400.

Stage 1 cam for stock motor though

so stage 2 is out of the picture unless i bore?

Pretty much wont do much with a stage 2 in there.

A stage 1 will give you good lowend and midrange with a little bit more on topend and is designed for a stock engine.

ok, so if i get a stage 1, what other stuff will i have to do? rejet? upgrade gaskets? timing chain? i dont know the most when it comes to upgrades

Putting a new timing chain on is worthwhile, but it also means you must remove the clutch side cover and the clutch too.

its not needed is it? i dont think i have full compression so while i have it apart for cam im going to replace all the gaskets too.

hold on is the head gasket leaking b/c if it is not blowing oil out all over ur engine then u are not lossing compression that way. and if its not blowing out a lot of smoke then are most likely not losseing compression at all u proberly just gotten to used to the 400

i guess i was just hoping i was losing compression for easy power, but it doesnt smoke or leak oil, so will a stage 1 hot cam make my four wheeler faster on top end at all? i have a buddy with a 400ex and were dead even on top speed because same gearing. but if i dont change the gears and have stage 1 cam will it go faster?

well at the top end no i had a friend with a stock bike and mine had one stage 1 cam only i would jump in front of him when we drag but after 3rd gear u would ride even he wouldn't pull on me i wouldn't pull away. but if u really want to beat him u need to change ur gearing around even if u do engine work ur gearing still limits ur top speed

i new that but i still felt the need to ask. yeah i just switched to 15 tooth sprocket today. think a 15 sprocket with stage 1 will pull on stock at start?

yea it will i mine did but if u want to up ur high end just gear it for speed or if u really want to blow ur friends out of the water bore the engine 11:1 compression and stage 2 cam it will be like he is standing still

yeah thats the plan when she blows, not gonna waste a perfectly fine engine
