I'm looking at buying a 97 scrabler 400 4x4 for $900.00 obo the only prob with it is that there is a hole in the trans case, the guy selling it said he went to a dealer and thats what they told him I'm going to look at it on sat.
Is this a good deal if I can talk him down and how interchangable are scrambler parts i know polaris has made them how quite awhile with little change to the looks just wondering if the motors and trans are all the same if so what years to look for

Get it cheaper and patch the hole with epoxy. JB weld or PC7.

if it has the stock piston I would look at getting that changed asap with a wiseco

also check your counterbalance oil, if its milky your in for some work

good thing is that these motors are easy to work on.

you should contact rick ritter at ritter cycle racing

also come check out www.gen3usa.com that site is all about scramblers, trailblazers and 400 sports.

good luck

Try patching it up, if you run into big problems, you could do a sweet engine swap. 450r, cr500, on another forum a guy put I think it was a 700 triple sled engine in one!
