ds650 axle help

Alright I need some help. I have an 03 DS650 and now a 06 ds650 x model. I was wanting to see if I could get my durable axle from my 03 to work on the 06. I know the swing arms are different lengths and I can see the axle nuts are different. I crossed checked the internal bearings in the carriers and they are the same for both models. My queston is do you think I can just swap carriers and install the 03 in my 06?? I want to use the 06 because its an inch shorter. (better for woods riding). Any one done this?? Realy dont want to buy a new axle as my 03 axle is in new perfect condition. Thanks for any help. Drew

I think you can do it. Don't quote me on that though, cuz I've never worked on an 06

I havent tried it yet but after looking at it closer I think if I swap carriers and then I think I will have to use the 03 brake disk and axle nut (which is nicer anyway) it should work. I will try it and let you know. Thanks.
