I have seen this talked about on here a bit.. Pretty simple fix to divert some heat away.. I simply took some wire that had stainless mesh/braid over it, cut to desired length, pulled the wire out, stuck it over the clutch cable.. Seems to be working fine.. I notice my cable started to get a little soft, worn around the area where it crosses in front of the header( not sure if it is a issue on a stock header, but def can be with a aftermarket one(HMF for me) Others might not 90 out this far.. So easy fix, looks cool.. I am sure fuel line with braid would work if it is not the double braided.. Prob have a hard arse time getting the tube out.. For now I have a wire tie at the clutch cable end holding it from opening up, but will be replaced with a small stainless hose clamp once I get to the store..

or run the longer cable (250r? or 300ex?)
I used some HD heak wrap stuff my clutch cable lays right on the header with no issue

I ordered a 1992 250x cable and ran it down the frame well away from the headers. Seems to be holding up pretty good.
